Ok,

I've found and read the reviews thanks to my fellow members' suggestions. (Thanks guys!!!)

Now, based on your collection, what movies do you suggest that are a must in any Bollywood DVD collection.

Based on quality of the DVD and the movie. Based on both factors, there probably aren't too many.

Any suggestions?

I would recommend
Kaho na pyar hai 2 discs(although disc 2 sux)
Hum saath saath hain 2 discs. (excellent extras disc)
Ek Rishtaa 2discs
DEI are undoubtedly the best for indian dvds
Obviously Mission: Kashmir is going to be the best indian dvd when it comes out so that will be a must have.
Dil To Pagal hai is strictly OK. There are many lines and scratches on the print.
I have Duplicate on DVD. I thought its brilliant(the film) although not everyone shares my opinion. The picture is OK but not that great.
Kya Kehna is Brilliant. The picture is not the best but cool. The sound also. Includes making of and the film is great.

You must be kidding. Right? I mean how can you call the Dil To Pagal Hai DVD ok. It is absolutely crap. The picture is blurred and the colors all mixed up throughout the film. It is so bad that if one was not familiar with the actors in the film it would be difficult to actually recognize them at times, specially in the big dance scenes amongst the support cast.

Sanjay, I don'nt know if you need your eye's tested or a new dvd / tv, but when I watch DTPH its fine. It has preety good pitcture and sound quality. I know its not one of the best but well above average.

DTPH is one of my favorite movie, but I couldn’t finish watching this dvd with my projector and I am thinking to watch it on my 32 inch interlaced TV to enjoy the movie, as the picture quality is absolute crap.

YRF's DTPH is interlaced and hence picture quality is poor. YRF's KKHH is progressive and the picture quality is better. Both are non-anamorphic. On large screen TVs you will find non-anamorphic progressive DVD to be better than anamorphic interlaced DVD.

or the excellent DVD pirate versions :) DTPH had a great transfer on the pirate DVD. Was near DEI quality, but had mono sound and was cropped to 1.90:1 non-anamorphic widescreen.

KKHH pirate DVD was much better then the original version. The pirate was done in widescreen 1.95:1 non anamorphic, and had 5.1 mono sound. picture quality was very good.

RE: DTPH
I said it was strictly ok but i never said it was good.
There are lots of compression lines visible and there are some wear and tear of the print, scratches etc. The sound however i thought was great. I like many off the songs of the film.
AFAIK there is only 1 official version of this film and the one i saw had a pretty decent picture when compared to some indian dvds. Dilwale dulhania lejayenge for example had a totally crap picture compared to this. The extras sucked.

I am a big fan of yash raj films but i am not a big fan of yash raj films lol if u get what i mean. I hate the company cos they produce shite quality dvds and take forever to make and release them. With them, nothing is certain.
Their films are very good with the exception of K3G which was average.
