I have seen this version before. Its not new, its just that the store has got it in stock only now. Very Eros-y presentation, dull colors, every frame looks saturated in brown, very much like how 'Devdas' had an orange tint throughout (at least the pirate version). The song 'Banno Rani' has a sound drop halfway. I have been noticing this problem a lot on DVDs lately. On VS' JSML, there is a long sound-drop on the song 'Kaash tujhe milte'. Kya ho raha hai? Kisko patha.

Nope I don't think so...Shemaroo will probably release the 2.35:1 Indian version with songs. Just hope it's not censored...

Notice the Indian version is called 1947 and the VCD version is Earth....

I remeember seeing something about this when the movie was released - apparently, because of the Indian pronunciation, if the movie was simply called Earth, then people would mistake it for Arth (the Mahesh Bhatt movie), so Deepa Mehta decided to make the title 1947 Earth to distinguish between the two movies.

Got this today - quality is as expect, like other Shemaroo DVDs. It's 1.85:1 non-anamorphic, with a typical Shemaroo picture - soft, decent colours, interlaced and false 5.1 sound – speech can be heard from rear surrounds, echoic and hollow :bangbang:

I'll grab some screen shots after work.

It would be cool to have some screenshots of the New Yorker edition of Earth to compare.

I can't determine which one has the best picture quality. Shemaroo or New Yorker ? :?:
And just to be sure : is there a difference between the too versions regarding the film itself ? Like one has songs and the other not?

NEW YORKER was POSTED here too!! It was interlaced and very dark!
May be ali or UL can help FRED to retrieve those!
