In Ottawa, Tamil films are shown more often than Hindi films. Normally, they rent Mayfair Theatre for one or more shows. No organized info. By word of mouth or grocery stores. THANA is a Tamil/ Srilankan grocery store and they usually get the flyers. Their Ph # is (613) 567-2963. Don't expect any cordial reply to your enquiry though.

I phoned them and they just said, they don't know. Most likely, Yuva Tamil version is not being screened this weekend, here in Ottawa.

But, if it's screened at Mayfair, I will definitely go and see it even though I don't understand Tamil. It will be worth it as Mayfair has excellent projection and DTS.

BTW, Mayfair Theatre Ph # is (613) 730-6552. Most likely you'll get recording and they have no info on events in rented theatre.

Man, I should move to Toronto! I'm tired of paying $8 to see Tamil films in mono. Either that or wait 4 months for the DVD.

but i was actually asking about the Hindi version of Yuva playing Ottawa. I think that the tamil version will be playing in Toronto now (who knows!!) and now i have to find a way to watch the Hindi version this weekend... sigh...

Frickin Woodside and Albion!! They play the shitty SRK movie but not YUVA!!!

The state of Indian Movies in the overseas market(explicitly Toronto) as we know it, is OVER! f*** Net Effect.

THEON, RANA - YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!!

Because of you two, I am just returning from Elane Cinemas where i saw the very first screening of Ayudha Ezhuthu in FULL BLOWN DTS!!! WOW, the screen was average size but the DTS sound system was just MIND BLOWING and I have never EVER, experienced an Indian movie in that high quality sound before - atleast in a movie theatre. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH.

As for the movie itself, well I don't understand Tamil (being a North Indian of course) and the film wasn't subtitled. But f*** THAT, AE IS DEFINATELY ONE OF THE TOP 2 movies this year (atleast a tie between this and Khakee) and WOW, I think this may be the best (or 2nd best) Mani Ratnam film. I'll give a full blown review in the other thread.

glad to hear you enjoyed it man. my friend said the cinema was really good, but i was skeptical since i've seen the outside of the place (i pass by those cinemas almost every day on my way to school). if i really like Yuva, i'll be sure to catch AE at Elane after your glowing recommendation.

Even then man, Net Effect gave it a proper release in the United States....if you look on the AMC website its showing in tons of Amc theatres there too...and IndiaFM selling tickets for the US in places like San Diego etc....for some reason they've black listed Toronto.

Net Effect will burn in hell

Yuva is showing in lots of traditional Indian film outlet theatres as well. Here is a link for Yuva tickets on the web.

BTW, I don't think, they blacklisted Toronto. Either Albion-Woodside did not select this film or Yuva distributors did not want to show their film that doesn't do justice to their audio video presentation.

`Aayitha Ezhuthu`

Showing in Ottawa Mayfair Theatre, one show, Sat May 29, 2:00 PM.

I'm sure it will be a DTS presentation with big bangs.

Disclaimer:
Got this info over the phone with communication prob. Hopefully I got the film name right.

I'll try to confirm it if I get a chance.

Rana

P.S.
Sorry for repeating the post, but I think, it was more appropriate to post it in this thread and not in the other 'Box Office Report' thread, where I posted as well.
