Just finished watching the movie.....all in all, it was paisa vasool ! Ofcourse you have to leave behind your thinking hats....it really is a tribute to all those silly/corny "kumbh mele mein bichadna aur anth mein milna" type of movie....but then it is a tribute to all of those movies that people grew up on in the 70s and 80s....i am one of those and thoroughly enjoyed this smart new re-packaging....the thing about these movies is that you need to have NEW gags, only then will it work.....to Farha's credit, she did pack 'em in....Manmohan Desai began to flop once he ran out of ideas and started to plagiarise himself....audiences are smart...they get a whiff of repeat stuff instantly....

SPOILER ALERT :

My fav scenes :

-All of SRK and Sushmita's scenes before he becomes a 'man' in her eyes....when he is a student, the ogling reminded me of our days as students in school when we would have these hormone driven crushes on teachers much older to us :-)) -
-'Ek ladki ko dekha toh aisa laga' was simply a brilliant touch !
-The first time Zayed goes to a library - that was a vowsie !!
-The 'chal dhanno' chase sequence

Footnote : Whenever Sushmita was on screen, it was not just SRK's 'ghantiyas' that started to ring, mine as well....and I admitted as much to my wife's great bemusement !

ah, mindless entertainment - just what i needed yesterday as i finished exams. i agree that this was a decent, if not good movie, but my too critical mind wouldn't let me stomach the climax (shah rukh was a bit too lucky for my tastes). i loved the way the movie showed those quirky things that people usually only see in their minds (the violins and the singing when sushmita enters).

for all the torontonians, try to avoid cinema #2 at woodside if you're planning on watching this on the big screen. the sound quality was terrible with no bass present. however, there seemed to be much bass in the tamil movie that was playing in the theatre next to mine since i could hear thundering bass during quiet night time scenes during main hoon na. as odd as it may sound, i think i may enjoy the eros dvd more!

one more thing. i don't mean to degrade the standards of this forum, but: did i see nipple in tujhe jo maine dekha?

Why avoid Theatre # 2?? When this film is playing in Square One and I-Max and someone goes to Albion or Woodside, it's obvious they don't care.

Tamil film must have been DTS then. MHN has DTS prints avail, but did they get them??

BTW guys, was there the fleeting appearance of Tabu in a song sequence and equally quick disappearance, or were my eyes playing tricks?

rana, i was desperate to watch the movie yesterday as i had just finished exams and someone i was going with had to go out after 6pm. thus the only option i had was woodside. i'll be sure to not make the same mistake with "yuva" if it's playing at square one.

Many people saw "Johar Mehmood in Bangla Desh" many many times in the hope that the train that blocked their view, will be late some day. :D

MAIN HOON NA

Masala Mix

Devesh Sharma

Cast and Credits

Producer
Gauri Khan
Director
Farah Khan
Music
Anu Malik
Cast
Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan, Amrita Arora, Suniel Shetty

ike Farah Khan promised, her directorial debut has everything for everybody. For the action fan, it has slow-motion Matrix-styled stunts, for skin-show addicts, it has the gorgeous Sushmita Sen making love to a waterfall in micro-briefs, for comedy buffs, Boman Irani in a Groucho Marx get-up, for melodrama geeks it has tears aplenty, and for SRK fans, it has got the King Khan strutting his stuff in every frame. Love it or lump it, Main Hoon Na is the fattest, flashiest, over-the-top dance-drama-comedy routine to hit the silver screen in recent memory.

Farah Khan hasn’t forgotten her dancing shoes after wielding the megaphone, and delights you with a kinky mix of 30’s musical style set-pieces peppered with tunes and situtaions straight out of a Nasir Hussain film. Each song is choreographed in a differnt style. While ‘Tumse milke dil ka... is both a disco and a qawwali fused into one, ‘Gori gori...’ resonates of the ‘Twist’ era songs like ‘Aaj kal tere mere pyar ke charche...,’ the title track gives the film an emotional impetus, while ‘Chale jaise hawayein...’ serves as a good introductory song for Zayed and Amrita.

She also reserves ample screen time for everybody, be it the blooming actor Zayed, the effervescent Sushmita Sen, the menacing Suniel Shetty or stalwarts Naseeruddin Shah and Kirron Kher. However, the cream of the cake is left for Shah Rukh Khan to enjoy. He is everywhere and does everything, be it comedy, action and drama, with apalomb. It speaks of his maturity as an actor that during the breakdown scene with Zayed, he doesn’t speak even once but conveys his angst, his pain, only through his eyes.

The film is low on the credibility factor and at one level can be read a spoofed tribute to everybody and everything that inspired Farah Khan. The hard-hearted should take note of the imaginatively compiled end credits. Now, with this mother of all fan films behind her, she would surely graduate to seriously tackling her craft in future. Amen to that.

Screen I find pretty CREDIBLE though!

I watched the movie on EROS crap dvd. I really liked the songs because they have that bollywood essence to them.

I didn't like:

The story

SRK

Farah Khan - the director

annoying silly nerd

College principal guy

Lucky - worst overacting ever!!! :x Bollywood seriously has to stop giving people names like Lucky, Rocky, Pinky, pooh etc.

Special effects

Editing - very amateurish editing for the sequence of terroirsts taking over tv station.

>>>I did like:

The songs

the cinematography

Farah Khan- the choreographer

Set design

Amrita Rao :o

Kiron Kher

Susmita Sen

The END CREDITS. That was pretty cool.

I recently saw this film, and I thought it was just a bunch of nonsense blah! Far worse was the quality of the DVD.
