Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke seems like an old film that somehow managed to get completed.

Can't believa, SRK film taking back seat, specially in US-UK.

Any idea what kind of a film 'Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke' is??

SRK-Raveena were together before, in at least one hit film (Zamana Deewana??).

I doubt, Masti will see kids in the audience and without kids, it's difficult to get a hit in US-UK??

It may take a back seat, but it's this film I'll see in theatre this weekend, not Masti.

Strange, Film story seems to be centered on SRK-Raveena and promotions are centered on newcomers??

BTW, are producers Nayyar brothers related to either of OP Nayyar or RK Nayyar??

The promos are centred on the newcomers however the makers claim that even though speculation is that SRK-Raveena are only special appearance that is not the case and that they have a pivotal role in the film not just a couple of scenes. Lets see....

As per synopsis, there seems to be no role for newcomers??:

Synopsis
Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke Love, Romance & Sweet memories have always played a special role in one's life. Dushant (Shahrukh Khan), Jaya (Raveena Tandon), Sujit (Mohnish Behl) and Nisha (Navneet) are childhood friends. Dushant aspires to become a successful singer but is hard hit for money. Jaya helps Dushant to realize his ambitions. As success catches up with Dushant, a rift is created between Dushant & Jaya. Sujit & Nisha take undue advantage of this to get close to Dushant and create a misunderstanding between him & Jaya. Kamlesh Dhingra (Avtaar Gill), who is Nisha's father approaches Dushant for finance for his business venture but is, turned down by Rajpal (Kiran Kumar) who is Dushant's mentor. Dhingra and Sujit plot to amass Dushant's wealth by luring Dushant to marry Nisha & getting rid of Rajpal. Dushant comes to know of this plot. Suddenly Sujit is murdered. Rahul (Amit Kumar) who is a police officer comes in to the picture to investigate the murder. Nisha is also murdered under mysterious circumstances and the climax builds up. Another murder takes place that of Dhingra. Who is the murderer? What is his motive? Is Dushant avenging his betrayal? Do Dushant & Jaya get back together?

Excerpts:

A forgotten Shah Rukh-starrer versus 'Masti'

"Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke", which is being released right ahead of his "Main Hoon Na", might make Shah Rukh Khan wince in horror.

But Bollywood is all about the survival of the freakiest. To even dream of releasing a film that stopped shooting a decade ago and was then revived with a different star cast is outrageous.

What probably remains is a hotchpotch of the very old and the very juvenile slapped on for the sake of making a fast buck.

For those who are interested in the background, "Yeh Lamhe Judaai Ke" was originally a film called "Jadoo". It was launched approximately a decade ago with much fanfare.

After a week's shooting, both Shah Rukh Khan and leading lady Raveena Tandon never returned to the film.

Both Raveena and Shah Rukh, last seen together in Ramesh Sippy's massive flop "Zamana Deewana", have dissociated themselves completely from the film.

---------------

No such problem with this week's other release, the laugh riot "Masti", about three friends looking for excitement outside their marriage.

Director Indra Kumar's laugh-fest features an all-star cast spearheaded by the dependable Ajay Devgan and Vivek Oberoi.

Essentially all cinematic experiences in Bollywood are targeted at family audience...Or so it was believed until the plus-18 "Murder" broke box office records in its opening weekend.

Now the family audience theory lies a little shaken.

"But 'Murder' opened in my theatre with huge crowds clamouring to get in. It's made Mallika Sherawat an overnight star."

Mallika is currently on a three-city tour of Delhi, Lucknow and Kanpur. Everywhere she's being mobbed.

In the light of "Murder's" success, "Masti" seems in-demand. Like "Murder", "Masti" too is a film on adultery, though this time it's the men who get an extra-marital itch.

Will "Masti" multiply on the "Murder" success? Or will Mallika Sherawat continue to rule the roost at the cost of some of the biggest names of Bollywood in "Masti"? Not to mention Shah Rukh Khan in a film he would rather forget.

------------------------

From the news report, looks like YLJK is doomed, but SRK name will get the producers enough collections from the overseas market.

MASTI will definitely not see any family audience and hence is doomed in the overseas market.

In India YLJK is super flop and Masti is Super Hit.

But, in Toronto, YLJK definitely did not take a back seat as compared to Masti.

Albion Woodside schedule for April 23 to 29 (3rd week) shows about same # of shows for Masti and YLJK. Any film reaching 3rd week at Toronto Albion-Woodside is not a flop there.

BTW, even new film Bardaasht in its premier week will have less # of shows as compared to YLJK or Masti in their 3rd week.

SRK fan following.
