I am trying to build a decent collection of Indian DVDs but it is often frustrating when I receive a DVD that has a bad video transfer. Even if the movie itself is good, it is always difficult to go through a movie because of a bad image transfer.

Here is a list of examples of good and bad video transfers from DVDs I ordered recently. Would you like to share your impressions about DVDs that should be avoided for that reason and those that have a sparkling video transfer? Thanks!

I'm shocked! Rana Ji rating Yashraj 9's. Nah! my eyes must be getting bad and Mohabbatein an 8, got to be a 5 I'm sure

I'm not scoring for YRF. It's for DVD quality.
K3G, KKHH (anam and non anam), DTPH (anamorphic) are Progressive and proper DD 5.1.
Mohabbaten is Progressive, Anamorphic, proper DD 5.1. I rated it 8 instead of 9 because of its low bit rate. Mohabbaten had a dismal low bit rate because of lots and lots of extras and nearly 4 hrs of film feature, all on a single disc.

Arsh, I agree with you on Chalte Chalte. Actually, I wasn't quite sure where to place Chalte Chalte. Edited my post above.

Where I placed ??, means I haven't seen that DVD.

BTW, quality differs if same DVD by different makers. Hopefully, there is no uncertainty, which make of these DVDs we are talking about.

I would rate yrf MYKSH/MDK as 3/10, right next to chalte chalte..one of the worst yrf dvds, imho.

EROS, started a downward trend on their already, abysmal quality, with 2 disc sp edition craps..starting i think with chalte chalte, FOLLOWED BY ARMAAN, TERE NAAM, LOC, AND KHAKEE! MIGHT NOT BE THE RIGHT SEQUENCE!

did i miss any honorable mention?

Though DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE is a very nice film, DO NOT BUY IT ON DVD! It's reaaaaaally bad!

- Dil Se (DEI Platinum, was dil se anamorphic?)
- Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (YRF-SD, anamorphic version)

- Mohabbatein (YRF-SD)
_DDDLJ(YRF)*** just for history sake( I rate it above Bombay and AHAT, as it was anamorphic)
