The sad thing is that its a bit late that Lagaan is getting a mainstream release so late, but then again who had predicted a mainstream release, a CT dvd and an Oscar nomination. Now I'm just waiting for Lagaan to get the highest grossing Hindi movie worldwide title.

go to
http://people.aol.com/people/quizzes/os ... index.html
and vote for Lagaan. Do that on all other websites with votes. That way, at least people's curiosity about the film will be roused and more people would be aware of it. And hopefully, the panel wouldn't feel weird about letting it win if it seems so popular:)

Actually your wish will probably not come true. Because although a mainstream US release will most probably give Lagaan a higher overseas collection total than K3G, the existing record holder, the fact is that Monsoon Wedding will most definately end up being No.1 in this category by the time it is done with its run around the world. By the way Monsoon Wedding has already almost overtaken the collections of K3G in UK and will most certainly do better than K3G in the US also. Even in a small market like Italy, Monsoon Wedding has done close to US$ 1.5 million. At last count I think K3G had collected close to US$ 5 million worldwide (excluding India) and Monsoon Wedding had already done US$ 4 million worldwide (not including India). Keep in mind Monsoon Wedding has not yet been released in a lot of markets including the largest market, North America (US & Canada).
