The underrated Vijayakanth film Ramanna (which I recommend to all Indian film fans) is now to be remade with Sunny Deol in Bollywood. While I don't really like remakes, I feel this film might even be better in Bollywood then it was in Tamil. The film in Tamil was limited with a poor soundtrack and low budget.

With Sunny Deol on board the film might get a better interface with a high budget, one of the highest Sunny Deol has ever worked on.

All I hope for is that Sunny Deol don't scream any patriotic dialogues and I hope he will be subtle in his deliverence as was Vijayakanth...also check out the infamous hospital scene when the film is released as that is bound to become a memroable sequence in Hindi cinema...fans of the original will understand... :D

Why do I have a feeling Sunny Deol is gonna ruin this movie......

And I finally agree with Sunny about something :p Ramanna is a great film, and the hospital sequence is fantastic!!! But I just can't see Sunny Deol as a college professor........

Sunny Deol will want to cater to his fans who want to see him scream dialogues. I don't think he understands subtelty, especially when he's incharge. My money's on him ruining the remake!!

Actually if you look at Sunny's work from the early part of his career, you will find the exact opposite e.g. Arjun. But most of those films flopped, while films wherein he was loud became successes, so I guess it's the audience to blame and not him. After all that was the only way for him to survive.

It’s interesting to point out that both Vijayakanth (South Indian) and Sunny Deol (North Indian) are very much alike in terms of their acting skills. Both are loud and patriotic. Vallarasu (1998) and its Hindi remake Indian (1999) are identical in terms of the main actor's performance.

For Rammana (2002) Vijayakanth was asked to be subtler in his performance by director Murgadass. Normally because of the hierarchal power and politics Vijaykanth is commands (more influence then Sunny Deol) many felt that it would be hard to convince Vijayakanth to not be "loud" and “Patriotic”.

However Vijayakanth consented but asked the director to allow him one final speech in the film. Both agreed and the rest is history. Murgadass, who is also penning the screenplay for the Hindi version should have no problem convincing the Punjabi Munda to do the same...and Sunny Deol (who watches most of Vijayakant action films) might also concede for those very reasons.

I'm gonna have my doubts until this film releases. I think whether Sunny screams and shouts is gonna have a lot to do with the producer and director of the movie. Wouldn't be surprised if there were a few item numbers in the film as well......

"Gandhi" seems to be a lame attempt to market a movie with an identifiable name.
