Once an awards ceremony has films like Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon, LOC and Janasheen in its nominations, it's a farce as far as I am concerned. ???

Even though I too think the nominees are quite horrendous, but here's what I would still pick as best of the lot.

Best Film-Tere Naam

Best Director -Ram Gopal Varma (Bhoot)

Best Actor -Hrithik Roshan (Koi Mil Gaya)

Best Actress -Urmila Matondkar (Bhoot)

Best Actor in a supporting role-Arshad Warsi (Munnabhai M.B.B.S.)

Best Actress in a supporting role -Shabana Azmi (Tehzeeb)

Best Performance in a comic role -(N/A)

Best Performance in a villainous role - I'm becoming convinced that this catagory doesn't make sense.

Best Music -Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy (Kal Ho Naa Ho)

Best Lyrics- Javed Akhtar (Kal Ho Naa Ho - Kal Ho Naa Ho)

Best Male Playback Singer -Sonu Nigam (Kal Ho Naa Ho - Kal Ho Naa Ho)

Best Female Playback Singer -Alka Yagnik (Odhni - Tere Naam)

Rehash of Avtaar/Amrit material
Remake or reimagining of Anand
Remake of ET
Remake of Patch Adams
Remake of Sethu

It's been a good year for Hindi movies

If it gona be done to favour any BIGGIE!! like KAJOL was FAVORED for GUPT, but URMILA was NEVER FAVORED for PTKK or KAUN.. :nopity:

Then my hats off to, PREITY ZINTA for ARMAAN, but I would rather have her GRAB BEST ACTRESS nod for ARMAAN, rather than her CHEEZY, MUSY, FLUFF characters in KHNH and KMG :nopity: :keh:

Surely there must have been better films outside of the very mainstream fare nominated here. Even the Oscars have some relatively offbeat nominees for many categories. I didn't even bother to see any of the best film nominees except Munnabhai.

Quote:
BEST MUSIC
Anu Malik
Film: LoC
Himesh Reshammiya Film: Tere Naam
Jatin-Lalit
Film: Chalte Chalte
Rajesh Roshan
Film: Koi... Mil Gaya
Shankar Ehsaan Loy Film: Kal Ho Naa Ho

If these were nominated, then surely M.M. Kreem and A.R. Rahman deserved nominations for Jism and Tehzeeb. Far better than more of Rajesh Roshan's "music" or SEL's decent but merely average KHNH.

In music..MY WINNER is M.M Kreem..period, no doubt.

He should HAVE BAGGED at least ONE OF SCREEN/FILMFARE etc..for SUR!! last year beside, Rehman for SAATHIYA!!

But damn..POLITICS..SUR was not a HIT, and did not have PUNDITS behind it!

BTW!! SUR album, sales last year and JISM this year had ben EXCELLENT..

RAAZ..THE WINNER..Give me a break!

Who votes for the winners?
Is it the public or the Indian "Academy"?

Public.

It's the other competitor awards (perhaps screen or Zee??) that are based on North American Academy Awrds model.

The Filmfare awards are a popularity contest. And popularity contests are always silly (e.g. MTV Awards).

Zee is in no position to give awards. Since when did Zee become an authority on filmmaking anyway. Their own programming is absolutely the worst stuff I've ever seen on TV.

I think Screen's system doesn't depend on popularity.
