Sorry to be so negative but i just got it and i'm very disappointed in it. It's the worst packageing i've ever seen. Some of you may like it but i definitely don't.
The one i got is the double disk set with a fold in cover, paper soft and very flexable. can be torn very easly.

Hey Raj_D,

The cover that came with the DDLJ DVD definetly sucks, that is why I redesigned the DVD cover so that people like you and me just have to buy a double disc DVD holder case and use the above pic I made as a cover.

What resolution should these be scaled down to, to print it out correct size? OR are they already okay?

Hey there RNJBond,

To be honest with you, I used a DVD cover I found at another site to get the exact measurements for the spine/front/back. I have not printed it yet, click the below link for a file I found on the net which shows you the measurements of a DVD cover, instructions however are in another language but the math is there. My printer is getting fixed and I should have it back soon, that is why I could not get it printed as of yet, but when I do will let you know how it turned out, but the file below should be of big help.

File is of PDF format, if you do not have Adobe PDF Reader download it by the clicking the link further down.

agree completely, the packaging is pretty poor. Imagine your typical gatefold packaging, i.e. Fight Club. But without the sleeve, then imagine the material is not even half the quality in terms of strength, and just quality -- although the actual printing isn't too bad, and the actual design is nice and matches the film.
It has like a tab to 'clip' down the front cover, like you get on food packaging, mine arrived barely holding together. I've cut off the tab to make it look smarter. But the poor material means that unless it's wedged between other DVDs, it's like a paperbook book that doesn't want to shut. I'm going to get one of those plastic holders from Movietyme to protect it -- because i just know after lending it out a couple of times it will become pretty tattered.

A poor effort all round, and especially as this was such an anticipated title. Haven't played the film yet, so can't comment on DVD quality -- but it's dispairing to know this is most likely going to be the only release :(

Hey,

How much does one of those black DVD cases cost and where can I get one?

I'm gonna get my DDLJ in the mail pretty soon, and I was wondering why you guys don't just buy the hard case and put the DVD in there...there is a transparent sleeve in which you can put the front back covers and everything..right?

Folks...Have to agree with RAJ.....the Cover is absolutely Pathetic... They tried to ape the AMERICAN PIE (Ultimate edition) DVD... and failed miserably !!!

The second problem :- Usually they give a detailed listing of all the chapters ...<s>But this DVd</s> ( along with one more DVD I got) <s>doesnt have it</s> :(

The third Problem :- MY DVD player cant play the menu sequence properly !!! :wot: Is this a problem with my DVD player or has anyone else faced the same problem !

*ps :- I will post some screenshots of the Insaaf Ka Tarazu DVD later on

Maybe it’s something to-do with watching the film for the very first time. I’m one of those un/fortunate people who had never fully seen DDLJ until it was released on DVD. I know people who are crazy about this film and reckon it’s the best of the best. I watched it for the first time on DVD and didn’t think it was anything special – not to say it’s a bad film, far from it – but it seems like movie you’ve seen and know what going to happen.

I think it’s because DDLJ was the original to formulate a romantic epic like the way it did, it was just an easy formula to copy - and it was copied by many other films that followed. With so many imitations to the crown, the original loses it charm and the thing that made it special – and this applies to DDLJ. I think people watching DDLJ for the first time today won’t be as impressed with it as when it was first released.

Compare this scenario to Sholay – I would guess someone who has never seen Sholay before and watched it today will still be blown away by the movie experience than something like DDLJ. The Sholay experience has not been replicated by any other movie while DDLJ was repeated just once too often to make the same kind of impact.

Hey,

I am reading all kinds of negative reactions about the DVD of DDLJ. Is it really that crappy???? I have got a pirated version and am wondering if it is worth the money. Any clues?? Some time ago when on a business trip to Singapore I saw a B4U version. Is this a pirated version too??
