THE MOST ATTRACTIVE WOMAN OF 2003
AISHWARYA RAI

India's most famous actress, Aishwarya Rai, has been voted the most attractive woman of 2003 by hellomagazine.com readers. The green-eyed beauty took some 33 per cent of the vote, despite a strong challenge from British newcomer Keira Knightley, who was in second with 31 per cent.

The svelte beauty, who first shot to fame after appearing in a Pepsi commercial in her home country, is now standing on the cusp of international fame. In 2003 she became the first Indian actress to sit on the jury of the Cannes Film Festival and "Aishu" is tipped to star in the next Bond movie.

The critically-acclaimed performer will also make her Hollywood debut this year, starring opposite Meryl Streep in the thriller Chaos.

Indeed a sad sense....I guess beauty is now defined by the amount of makeup an actress wears...in which Ash is truly a role model for.

Have hellomagazine.com even seen the pictures of Ash from Cannes? perhaps they should look at them and then re-evaluate their decision.

i dont care what anybody says, aish is the most attractive woman on earth and i helped her get the title.

And the reason she came on top is that Indians went far out of their way to promote her, for example through e-mails and on community message boards on the Internet, telling everyone to vote for her as she's the only Indian in the list!

And to top it off, to deal with their bias guilt they state that Aishwariya doesn't even look like an Indian ??? so they are not really favorouring her over the other non-indian women :D

Keira Kneightly is disgustingly skinny and not attractive. Actually the list in general is pretty shabby; the only ones that are attractive out of that list imo are Aish, Catherine Zeta Jones :love: , Gwyneth Paltrow, Cindy Crawford, and Kate Hudson.

the only people on that list imo that compare to aish are angelina jolie or catherine zeta jones...

Well Aishwariya is also disgustingly skinny and has her bad days where it looks like she forget ot put her face on...make-up does alot for her but sometimes fails to cover the pimples on her forehead.

As for Kiera Knightly the picture on the Hello site has to be just about the worse picture I've seen of her. But still she came second place. Let's face it, the only reason Aishwariya won was that some people went out of their way to promote her on the Internet.

Is it any surprise that there wern't any Black or other 'Asians' to choose from? Does this say something? I wonder if all 'other ethnics' also voted for Aishwariya?

Aish is skinny only by Indian standards. Sadly, she would be of average weight here in the US where her competition would be the likes of Keira Knightley (where you can actually see bones), Paris Hilton (who weighs like 70 pounds), and the Victorias Secret's models. Jessica Simpson for example had to go down from 105 pounds to 90 in order for to have the "right" look. I wouldn't be surprised if the American media called Aish fat actually.

I think some darker skinned Indians have a complex about lighter skinned Indians. They seem to have an automatic dislike for them. As far as I've seen, green, brown, grey or blue eyes are fairly common in the north. Anyway if Aishwarya doesn't look Indian/south Asian, then i dunno what she looks like. She certainly doesn't look Swedish or Korean. :oops:

I can see Catherine zeta jones but Anjelina Jolie(yuck). She looks sort of like a drug addict at times.
