hey faddy, i'm actually considering a move to London, so maybe we should switch places LOL :D

anyways to answer ur question, yeah Toronto atleast is a very decent place to live. Its HUGE, with many culture residing in all parts, and no real violence/racism/whatever.

The economy was shitty and is doing a turnaround of sorts - many more people are getting jobs, even if it is short term. The IT sector in general is doing pretty bad, but if u're good (or have experience) then you should be able to find something.

Living expenses are approx. 1/3rd of the UK so yeah you should be able to survive here for quite a long time. Lets say in TO, you should be able to find some kind of apartment for approx $600-700 a month, which is equivalent to about 300 pounds. Food is relatively cheap, and you should be able to budget urself for some entertainment. If nothing else, just go and buy those 2 in 1's for 10 dollars CDN!! LOL

As for the women man, yeah there are ALOT of hot babes here, but guess what - they're all pure BITCHES!! I mean they're hot stuff and all but they think they're all that - so be cautious. There must be some decent ones out there, but I've yet to come across one that doesn't have some sort of MAJOR ISSUE :ffs: :ohyeh:

Weather - it's fucking freezing here man. You have no idea what freezing means until u get here. Lemme tell u yesterday, there was an extreme cold warning and with the wind chill, our weather was minus 35 degrees celsius. I mean when i tried to use windshield washer on my car, the fucking thing froze before my blade could wipe it LOL. And yeah, it's gonna get colder here for the next couple of months. Expect lots of snow and ice.

As for the city itself - it is pretty nice, but I'm rather bored of it myself.

So take all this into account - but keep this in mind, if u hate cold weather, stay FAR FAR away.

faddy,

Why would you want to move from London? The way I see it if you have no mortgage or rent to pay and your in London you are SET. One thing is the Americas are the place for fast money, but social life and culture its all in Europe and Asia.

I think London is great if your East Indian man with all the indian clubs and indian pubs you can't get all that here. In Torotno you will never realize Diwali has come and gone. I would move to London if I had serious cash in a heart beat.

My wife is from there and hates Canada, (well not that much that she would leave me) but she finds the American culture compared to the British culture too layed back. If you don't drink or go clubbing than this is the place for you but if you like going out for a quick few pints on a week-day or partying in the weekends then stay there guy...

Let's not lump all of North America in one category here. I for one live in Manhattan (NYC), and I truly believe that it's the greatest experience one can have. There's just so much available (food, clubs, bars, parties, sports, culture, museums, wall street, etc.) that anyone can fit in.

Of course I am not suggesting NYC as a potential destination for Faddy because the living expenses are crazy. Just pointing out that it's Canadian culture that's laid back (except Montreal, because of the random trips by US undergraduates due to the lower drinking age and cheap alcohol :p ). Life in the US in not laid back at all in places like California, Florida, Chicago, and ofcourse NYC. The midwest is a different story.

Ok guys thanks for ure feedback.. i think canada has been crossed of the list.. i want a warmer climate... as for NYC.. i wont ever plan to live or visit that country even if it was the last country on the earth... certain personal morale issues... etc...

As for london.. i dont live in London.. i live in the miserable north.. the Manchester area.. however IT over here is pretty crap and London just doesnt appeal to me.. i wudnt wanna live down there too.. just too much going on down there for me to hack ...

We`ll my initial choice is to move to Dubai... i visited last year and ive been in contact with some agencies regarding jobs.. but none have got back to me... but before i move out there i want to know more about potential careers etc... so if any of u can offer some advice, then it will be appreciated.. I already know baout the weather and the women over there :bash: but im finiding it an issue locating job vacancies.. i just dont know where to look..

Ali/Urbanlegend dont delete this thread.. meree zindagi ka sawaal hai

If you are thinking of sunny places...then Australia is something you might want to consider, especially the East Coast (Brisbane/Gold Coast).....awesome weather all year round....but can get pretty expensive as well....do not know how they are doing economy wise (i was there last in 1996, and my wife's cousin is in Perth who's not doing too badly)....Singapore is another destination you may want to check out....but yeah Dubai has always sounded nice, what with being an open society (more westernised etc)......and in case you can, you should try going to B'lore too for a stint, to check out really......it is the place where all the action is currently....great culture, very cosmopolitan, tons of IT companies, jobs moving there by the planeloads......cant go wrong there !!!

faddy vancouver is almost the same as toronto but entertainment for rentals of indian movies are way cheaper here you just pay 15cdn a month and rent how many videos and dvds you want and bring them back in a week. also here the babes are more easy going and if you want better weather we have mild winter and hot summers but not that hot that u cant take it. and i think in vancouver life is more easy and people are more kind here than in toronto.

Lol @ you guys.. i aint bothered about DVDs in all honesty.. i dont get time to watch em or even buy em nowadays.. im well out of touch now...!!

As for living in the UK.. everything is overpriced... An average house to rent in the northern regions (manchester, leeds, liverpool areas) can cost around about £250-£350 per month.. however if u move down south (London areas) prices can go way above £700 per month.. but its amazing how wages also change depending on where u live... As for living expenses.. it depends on how lavish u wanna live.. Dvds on average cost around £15.. Cinema ticket £6... petrol cost too much around 80pence a litre... taxes here are a piss take - u pay about a 1/4 of your wage in taxes, national insurance etc... basically u spend shit loads day in day out... thats why id rather move somewhere where i just earn and save it rather than spend it on crap... with the sort of lifestyle i have, i easily spend £300 on bullshit per month but i have a lot of debts which i have to pay off so that is a further £400 per month.. tell u the truth i dont really save much.. actually i dont save anything.. which i should really... One good thing about the UK is the health service.. compared to the US (not sure about canada)... the NHS, if a bit crap, provide all healthcare free... which is great!!

Other than being expensive the UK is a great place to live.. a very large desi community.. so making friends etc for u guys wont be a problem.. but the weather is awful this morning it is -3 oC... my car is frozen, i had to spend 20 minutes defrosting it and even then it was freezing throughout my journey to work... :ffs:

But thats me.. a moaning old paki!
