Sorry for Delay Ali!! Well! here are extra detail on ASOKA!

Extra menue is simillar like dvd u previewed, but it is laid vertically than horizontaly,
It is missing, picture galeries.
Making is simillar with Savan/srk/juhi speaking..picture exactly as posted by u on UK version preview/review.
filmographies..same.
One trailor..included.
Big batle scene...included.
Conclusion..Pretty much the same with the same CUTTING EDGE DD 5.1 sound!!!Any other queries pls.
I think! First look is involved in this DVD one way or he other!!
as it carries their scanable number too!!

Since the unqualified first look dvd is out in america, I can get it, but should I wait to see if a better version comes out in march or not?

I got this Asoka DVD today. Putting aside the confusion of whether this release is a proper First Look DVD or not; the difference between the Metrodome and this version are;

- no Tamil audio track on First Look release, only Hindi 2.0 surround and Hindi 5.1
- Metrodome is picture is better – more sharper, less video artefacts. This probably more due to an interlaced source used for this First Look release giving it that softer look. Metrdome had a progressive film source.

And just a confirmation of what has confirmed before;

- both have anamorphic 2.35:1 video
- both have a proper dynamic and likely Hindi 5.1 tracks
- both have the same extras
- both are complete version of the films

Ali, you mentioned, earlier on, that Metrodome ASOKA runs 4% faster (common in Film to PAL conversion). Is the First Look ASOKA (NTSC) running time the same 4% faster as PAL ASOKA??.

As Metrodome ASOKA is coded as Region Zero, PC based DVD players should be O.K. for viewing PAL DVDs on computer monitors or other High Res monitors used for PCs.

Hi All,

Just watched Asoka , and the movie as well as dvd is 100 times better than other dvd. The audio on the dvd is quality.

The second song on the dvd has good deep bass, you can feel the rumble while sitting on your sofa. Excellent.

This is much better than , first song on Lagan dvd and even Dil Chata hai , club song.

I personally dont think DCH was a GREAT dvd!! excluding film it self!!
Lagaan's SOUND..speaks quality and consistency with theme..drama!! and its background was consistent with that..it lost to AKS in FF tech awards..but I think Lagaan's background was a CLASS act!! ofcourse AKS background was very good too! but not CLASS ACT!!

Now ASOKA!!has a DVD sound to please every one CLASSY or NON CLASSY!! way to go ASOKA..the dynamics on that sound is simply MIND BLOWING!!
Besides that!! CINEMATOGRAPHY!! had been BEST I have ever seenin HINDI film..ofcourse IMO< any body can differ, and has been aknowledged as BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY AWARD by FF for ASOKA!!! way to go! asoka..

Buying ASOKA DVD, my sole goal was for SUPERB CINEMATOGRAPHY!! and I got BEST SURROUND SOUND in BONUS!!! I think it sounds better than DTS track that I heard in THEATRE!

No offense but I think the theater you watched the film in must not have been that great. Because I think that as good as the sound on the DVD might be, it is still not as good as the sound I heard in DTS in a very good theater here in Delhi.
By the way I have a pretty decent sound setup at home and therefore I think I am in a pretty good position to make that judgement.

My Home Theater equipment:
Denon AVR5800 (Denon A1SE in Europe) A/V Receiver
Paradigm Reference 100 Front Main Speakers
Paradigm Reference CC Front Center Speaker
Paradigm Reference 100 Rear Speakers
Paradigm Reference CC Rear Center Speaker
Paradigm Servo15 Sub Woofer
Thomson 32" 16x9 Widescreen TV
Sony S7700 DVD player
Pioneer CLD-D704 Laser Disc Player

Well! no offense, one way or the other!< i have a very cmpetitive theatre set up like urs!! but ur theatre in INDIA might have a better DTS set up than a USA, CA theatre!!! I can not compare!! In the same theatre I watched YAADEIN and LAGAAN and both had superb sounds!!?
BTW! did u watched ASOKA dvd, Metridome/FL on ur system locally!
BTW!! i have a 7.1 channel set up with PARADIGM refrence series!! kaisa hai?

Although I don’t have the best sound setup, my setup still beats the local theater if the dvd authorized properly. I also have bass shakers in my sofa.
Although I have good video setup (XGA DLP Projector + HTPC + Progressive DVD player), I can’t say it is
close to my local theater. I think Indian dvd’s are generally ok with audio and some of the Indian theaters are better equipped than USA. I live in Columbus, OH.

I think all the praise is for Metrodome ASOKA DVD, which is in PAL.

For the NTSC version, I think what is available right now is, legal or illegal, First Look version which has been copied from Metrodome DVD implying Film to PAL to NTSC transfer making it one of the worst DVDs.
