I was looking forward to watching PLAN in theatre. But, it's Chameli that'll be shown in Toronto theatres, not PLAN. Let's see if they picked the wrong film again??

"PLAN will be more entertaining"

I seriously doubt that. If Sanjay Gupta has anything to do w/ a film then it is bound to be booolsheeet!

First day First show reactions to Plan

By IndiaFM News Bureau, January 09th, 2004 - 1900 hrs IST

After Munnabhai, its Musabhai that the audiences are talking about! Yes that's the new guise of Sanju baba in his first release of 2004 - Plan, which the audiences seem to have liked quite a lot.

Outside Novelty Cinema, Bombay, the audiences have whole-heartedly appreciated Sanjay Dutt for his another portrayal of a don character in Plan. Perhaps he has turned into a national don figure spreading his own message of Bollywood brotherhood (i.e. bhaigiri)!!!

The other 4 guys in the film have also performed well though all the girls are just restricted till skin-show. Mahesh Manjrekar once again wins applause for replaying something very much similar to what he had already done in Kaante.

Overall Plan turns out to be a complete masala film that might perhaps spice up your weekend. Hopefully, it seems as if the Plan of Sanjay (both, Dutt and Gupta) may work out.

First day First show reactions to Chameli

By IndiaFM News Bureau, January 09th, 2004 - 1900 hrs IST

Pritish Nandy Communications much talked about film Chameli, doesn't get a good audience response. The viewers outside Maratha Mandir cinema-hall come out quite unsatisfied.

Firstly, most weren't willing to accept Kareena Kapoor in the role of a prostitute. She looks too classy and is sort of miscast in the character of Chameli. The basic problem perhaps is that with the theme of prostitution, the masses had conceived something else in mind, while Chameli does not tread that path. Moreover, with the film's major setting in a studio and it's slow pace, the viewers complained that the movie tends to get monotonous after a while and drags.

With an unconventional subject and moreover an unappealing treatment, the fate of Chameli seems rough at the box-office.

OK. got it.

BTW, Airfares are real steal due to price war right now (less than $ 100). But by the time you add taxes etc, it still comes to over $ 400.

For example: Toronto to Orlando return airfare is $ 58. But it comes to about $ 350 when all taxes and fees are included.

Chameli is hands down one of the best movies of this year (or last year if you will). It's one of the most entertaining movies I've seen along with Munnabhai MBBS. I don't want to repeat my post from the Chameli thread, but I doubt PLAN will be better than this.

It looks like Albion Cinemas made the right choice!!

It's good, if it works out for Albions and their clients.

There are mixed reviews. Obviously, serious clientale will like Chameli. Plan is preferred by younger clentale.

Anyway, selecting films for screening is a business decision, which depends on pre-release hype or publicity, as no one has actually seen the films. Plan was no less hyped than chameli. It would've been nice if both films were screened??
As of now, Plan is doing a lot better than Chameli, commercially.

BOX OFFICE UPDATE-12th January 17.00 IST
Its been a poor weekend at the box office for the new releases with only Plan having chances of being an average fare.

In comparison, Chameli seems to be loosing. No matter how critically acclaimed. No chance of earning any more theatrical revenues as official DVD is already out.

Yes, in one respect preferring Chameli over Plan can be justified. i.e. Albion management selecting better films for their clientale. Did management preferrence agree with client's preferrence??

i saw plan and chameli at the i max. i know for sure that plan was in dts but i dont know if chameli was. on the whole i liked chameli better than plan. it was more entertaining (not because kareena played a hooker) and there was only two songs in the movie i think.

arsh bhai... why u on izzy's case :D :D

actually there is only one REAL song which is the song where Kareena Kapoor is singing in the rain. There's two more songs - one at the beginning and one when they go to a bar (Main Saat Samundar) and finally there's an all new song which plays over the credits.

The way the songs are picturized are really good and the songs themselves are of good quality!!
