Just got this on CD and man it blew away tehzeeb, boyz and E18 U20 and any other Indian soundtracks released this year. Songs go back to old Style Rahman....soothing melodies and wonderful fussion of old bollywood tunes with South Indian traditional music.

Check out tracks like Theekkuruval and Anaarkali....

Film looks intresting a murder mystery by Bharatraaja, and his first film in an urban place outside India.

Speaking of great soundtracks, I just wathced "Chupke Se"...wow! Amazing music...the Vishal-Gulzar duo have done it again! The guest composer comes through as well with "Dildara". This is by far the best music I have heard all year! :)

Btw, the movie was crap

The songs take a while to get into, but they are quite good. I also liked Virumaandi (formerly Sandiyar) by Ilayaraja, which was released on DVD-Audio. Shreya Ghosal's Tamil diction is getting better, but I find it odd that IR would use a non-Tamilian singer for a village soundtrack, where the pronunciation should sound natural.

Sandiyar is not bad but have heard better Illayaraja soundtracks. Joot was disspointing as was Kovil. Expected a much better soundtrack from these high budget Indian films. Hope the films do not dissapoint.

Vishal Bharadwaj is probably one of the most underrated music directors from India. And Chupke Se just goes on to show that again. The music is intricate and many layers exist beneath what one might discern in the first hearing. The film certainly wasn't great, but watchable. Btw, the guest composer is Ranjit Barot. The man behind the 'brand names' of Anu Malik and Anand Raaj Anand, and sometimes even Ismail Darbar and Vishal. Which means basically that much of the music for films like Kaante, Sandhya, Fiza and Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya was by Ranjit Barot.

Agreed

"The film certainly wasn't great, but watchable."

I was with the first half of the film... good love story, Om was funny. The second half (esp the climax) was where they completely botched the movie and lost all sense

"Btw, the guest composer is Ranjit Barot. "

Oh.. didn't know that

cool

Since we are on the subject of soundtracks, I have a question.

Somebody please let me know who sang these songs:

Minnale- vaseegara(?)

Dumm Dumm Dumm- Bhoomi (not sure of the name of the song but it was the first song, with Jhoythika running around in the farm)

Thanks :)

I think Yuvan Shankar Raja is India's most underrated composer. He is the only music director in India to actually make R'N'B and HipHop tracks sound cool in Indian films. Listen to MunPaniya from Naanda and you'll find it one of the best R'N'B tracks from any Indian composer. Its even better then most duffer desi tracks heard in the UK

I thought the percussion to Mun Paniyaa sounded a lot like Ae Ajnabi from Dil Se.

By Moviebuzz

After the Pongal films, the most awaited film is Kangalaal Kaidhu Sei, directed by veteran Bharathiraaja. Swaminathan is the producer and it is his banner Lakshmi Movie Makers' next release after Anbe Sivam.

Bharathiraaja is a director who always makes films set in village milieu, but this time he is trying a hand at a city subject. This film was in the making for the last two years and it is after a long break that the director is making a crime thriller. Even after 25 years of filmmaking Bharathiraaja feels that the subject of Kangalaal Kaithu Sei has not been handled in Tamil cinema so far.

The film stars newcomers Vaseekaran and Priya Mani who play lovers. As it is a crime thriller with a revetting climax the makers are very secretive about the story. Vaseekaran and Priya Mani are said to have come out with excellent performances, as they have already been flooded with offers though both are waiting for the response of their first film.

The highlight of the film are the six super songs tuned by A.R.Rahman. Sujatha has written the story and dialogues for this film. One of the songs is picturised in Australia. The other highlights of the film are a Limousin car and a gold revolver. Though the story is a crime thriller Bharathiraaja feels that there are enough elements to please the youth of today.

A limousine and a gold revolver??? :hmm:
