According to the buzz in the music industry , LoC´s music , the rights of which were acquired by Saregama/HMV reportedly for a huge sum of 8 cr , is not selling well and as a result the release of the movie has been postponed.

Another school of thoughts dismisses this theory and says that LoC was always going to be released on Republic day that is 26th January 2004.

Wouldn't the release of the movie be good advertisement for the album? :hmm:

'L.O.C.' confirmed for Dec. 19

By Taran Adarsh, December 05th, 2003 - 0900 hrs IST

The rumour mills are working overtime. A television channel has reported that J.P. Dutta's L.O.C. has been postponed because Saregama [the music giant is marketing the audio rights of the film] has “pressurised” Dutta to postpone the film since “the music sales haven't caught on.” The news has been lifted shamelessly by some reporters and websites [famous for desk-jobs and stale news!], thereby adding fuel to fire.

Although this writer is fully aware that the news is nothing but a figment of someone's wild imagination, we still decided to get the facts right from Saregama spokesperson Pooja Kashyap.

Pooja was caught unaware and laughed aloud [like us!] when we asked that Saregama had prevailed upon Dutta to postpone the film. “Who's spreading such malicious rumours? [we didn't feel it important to mention the insignificant source!] The film is confirmed for December 19. Saregama is happy with the response to the music of L.O.C. There is no question of pressurising J.P. to postpone the film.”

The clarification should silence the gossip mongers who, in any case, are looking for some free publicity at the expense of the producer!

Is LOC releasing on Dec 19, Dec 26 or??

http://www.newindpress.com/Newsite....Topic=0

'Loc' unleashes a battle even before release
Friday December 12 2003 00:00 IST
IANS

MUMBAI: One of India's more talked about war epics, "LoC", has unleashed a battle even before its release.

"While the war on screen is ready to start, I'm going through a personal battle of my own," says its director J.P. Dutta, laughing dryly.

For the last few weeks speculation about the release date of the breathlessly awaited "LoC" has reached a crescendo.

"It cannot come this month. I can bet anything. Don't believe what J.P. Dutta tells you," says an influential Bollywood director.

When confronted by these rumours, Dutta says: "I've news for such people. 'LoC' is definitely being released this year, and in the next fortnight. The date will be decided in a couple of days.

"I have the clearance papers from the ministry of defence in my hands. The film goes to the censors this week where I foresee no problems."

An even bigger controversy concerns the fees of actors in "LoC", which has a massive star cast.

According to some in the industry, a group of leading "LoC" actors led by Ajay Devgan decided not to dub for the film until they were paid their price.

According to the rumours, Ajay was the last to dub for "LoC" and did so only after he was given his full remuneration because he wanted "to teach Dutta a lesson once and for all".

But Ajay denies these rumours completely.

"Why is a section of the media spreading these rumours? No such thing happened. I certainly wasn't the last to dub," Ajay told IANS.

"Things were clear between us from day one. There was no secretary involved in the deal. I finished my dubbing on time. There was absolutely no problem between us. I don't know about the other members of the cast. I can't speak on their behalf.

"I've heard that there were problems on the sets. I believe some of my colleagues got a little upset when I wasn't around. They were upset because of their roles, or whatever. And they might be talking such rubbish. But with me everything was smooth sailing. I don't want any misunderstandings with Dutta."

"I thoroughly enjoyed doing 'LoC'. Playing a real life character makes one feel a little more responsible on the sets. But when one works with directors like J.P. Dutta and Raj Kumar Santoshi one needn't worry. They do their homework so well. They know exactly how every actor should behave, what he should wear, eat etc. It's difficult to go wrong.

"Dutta has made 'LoC' under very trying circumstances. And it's sad if some people involved with the film are badmouthing it. I think it's very important for the film to work. Isn't it irresponsible on the media's part to print insubstantial rumours? I repeat, I never had any problems with Dutta, not during and not after shooting."

Looks like it will be Dec 26th!

Looks like it will be close contest between between Khakee and Line of Control , for the ´maximum number of posponement´ award .

J.P. Dutta´s Line Of Control has now been postponed from 19th December , as we had said and as per the latest , it is now scheduled to release on 26th December in most territories but will be released , a day earlier in some circuits to cash in on the Christmas holiday .

We must add that the movie is still to obtain the censor certificate and this may become the reason for yet another postponement !

RELEASING DECEMBER 26TH 2003!

'L.O.C.' censored with no visual cuts

By Taran Adarsh, December 19th, 2003 - 1015 hrs IST

The wait has ended! There has been tremendous speculation about the release date of J.P. Dutta's keenly-anticipated flick L.O.C., which was shifted from December 5 to 12 to 19 and finally 26. A section of the industry was speculating that the film will make it only next year, on January 9, 2004.

But the path for the film's exhibition has been cleared, with the censors clearing the film with no visual cuts and a 'U' certificate. The film opens worldwide on December 26, 2003.

In an exclusive conversation with this writer on Thursday night, Mumbai distributor Shyam Shroff revealed that the censors, which viewed the film on Wednesday, December 17, have okayed the film for universal exhibition ['U' certificate].

“Since there have been tremendous enquiries for block bookings from various schools and educational institutions, we were praying that the film be cleared with a 'U' certificate. Had it been granted an 'A' certificate, we distributors would've lost out on substantial revenue,” Shroff sounds relieved.

Reportedly, some of the characters in the film deliver swear words and according to Shroff, J.P. is contemplating incorporating a sound effect [of gunfire or bomb blast] when these words appear on screen. “There have been no visual cuts at all,” Shroff adds, “Just sound changes have to be implemented.”

And now for a pertinent question. What's the final length of the film like? “4 hours and a few seconds extra,” Shroff is specific. Not just the cast, even the length of this film is huge!

First day First show reactions to L.O.C.

By IndiaFM News Bureau, December 25th, 2003 - 1800 hrs IST

A magnanimous movie, a colossal cast, a historic event, a massive runtime, a record length song!

Exorbitant ticket prices at window, sky-high black rates and housefull boards (first week sold out)!! That's the scene outside Eros theatre, Churchgate, where LOC releases one day in advance on Thursday cashing in on the Christmas holiday.

But that's just one side of the coin. What do the real judges, the audiences, have to say? Did anybody say “Too many cooks spoil the broth?” Certainly not in this case! After all the hype, LOC does live up too its expectations.

“Bharat mata ki jai” gushes a man in typical filmi style. That's the momentary patriotism infused by this Dutta's tribute to the Kargil martyrs, which shows on his face. Of the multi starcast Ajay Devgan grabs the major applause. The next on the list are Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt. With a 25 plus starcast, not everybody gets a chance to display histrionics. Nevertheless Dutta hasn't wasted his leading men. The females don't have much of a scope, but that wasn't expected from a war film either.

The only element that the audience yearned for in LOC, very strangely, was - Sunny Deol. As one guy complained, “film aachi hai, magar agar Sunny hota to jo aadha kilo ka wajan hai woh ek kilo ka ho jaata”. Sounds interesting!

Even the four hour plus runtime (yes you read that right!) doesn't test the viewers' patience. That's what the audience had to say. Now, YOU got to see it to believe it!
