Mr Pillairaj, your concern is valid and we took your suggestion. Now our website has been updated with our store address and phone number. We hope this will increase your confidence on us. Hopefully you will hear about us more from your friends/families.

Thanks again for your suggestion

Mr Kuttappan

The only other online store that is reliable and has reasonable price is anytamil.com. We are trying our best to beat their price aswell, but some times we cant.

FYI, we have given Kakka Kakka for $17.99 INCLUDING SHIPPING FOR PRE-ORDERS.

Can you please send the URL of OTHER sites that sells for less so we know what mistakes we are doing.

Thanks

I received my copy from dvdunlimited today. Can't wait to watch it. I've been avoiding looking at the back cover because it has all the chapters listed and Ayngaran often puts spoilers in their chapter titles. Mhafner, I await your comments on Ayngaran's first 24p DVD :)

DVDUNLIMITEDONLINE TEAM,

Business is business, So i won't blame you. There are many sites that are cheaper than your site. I don't wanna post the links because I don't want to hurt your business.

Thank You,

The video transfer quality is decent, though if DTS had been dropped the bitrate for the video could have been increased.

A few words of Pandian's dialogues have been silenced out. One or two f-words have also been silenced out from one cop's dialogue towards the end.

The extras on disc two are mostly not that interesting. The making of shows a little bit of camcorder footage followed by the actual scene in the film. "Interview" is some promotional TV program with director Gautham Menon, Jyothika, and Surya. The deleted scenes are short, but it is nice they included them. They should have had commentary by the director. Also included are a photo gallery and a gallery of posters, or they could be print ads. Trailers and TV spots are interesting to watch once.

The optional climax feature could have been implemented in a better fashion. At the appropriate time, a target icon appears on the screen, and you have to press enter to see the alternate ending, which is 4:3 letterbox and field averaged with non-optional commentary by the director. Unfortunately you can't turn off the target logo, so you have to see it every time you watch the movie. It should have been optional like the Follow the White Rabbit feature on The Matrix. The ending probably should have been included on disc 2 as a separate supplement.

I thought the movie itself was pretty good. The songs should have been cut out entirely or treated differently. Thoothu Varuma is a Ramyakrishnan item number when Pandian, the villain, goes into a dance club. The song should have been relegated to the background, but it is shot like a music video.

That aside, it was an entertaining police thriller/love story. The Surya-Jyothika romance could have been developed more interestingly, but it was a fairly naturalistic treatment. The action scenes are nicely done, and the cinematography is good. Harris Jayaraj's music isn't his best, and a short part of the score is reused from another movie, 12B, I believe.

Kaaka Kaaka was one of the few Indian films I've seen this year that I either wasn't disappointed in or hated outright.

I wish there were subtitles for the special features, especially deleted scenes. Can someone be kind enough to provide a translation? ???

While recording the Audio Commentary he goes on about the Hindi verison coming soon from Feroz Khan and talks a bit about Bollywood films and the forthcoming police drama Kaakee (Big B). However this was edited out as he speaks about this way after the credits and we had no time.

I've done my best, but it was hard for me to translate the first deleted scene. Here are the 2nd and 3rd scenes. The dashes represent something I wasn't able to translate, not cursing or anything.

2nd:

Swati: Anbu, it's been a long time since I've had good wedding food. Why don't you get married?

Anbu: I should get married so you can eat wedding food? Why are you asking me? Arul and Ila are here, and Ila's talking to a girl. Whenever he gets a phone call [he gets nervous (or something to that effect, I'm not sure)]

Ila: Yea, I'm talking to her. It would be great if all girls were like our Swati. But I think the girl will only marry a white guy, which is why I'm trying to stay out of the sun for a while.

Swati: I know about them. At least they have an idea about getting married. You're [---------]

Anbu- Relax. Why all this talk? One thing. Srikanth wouldn't have told you. The department tells us to leave our wedding rings at home because someone who wants to do something wrong will know you have a wife. You're life, your thoughts of your home, they say to leave them at home. But I think differently. [something I couldn't translate]. I don't want the concept of a happy family back at home. [-------] I like being alone, Swati. If you all die, I won't regret being alone. I'm happy alone.

Swati: This talk won't do. Listen to me. Nice guys get nice girls. I don't like to say this, but you are a nice guy. You'll get a nice girl. You must. Someone will come, watch. This is my last drink, I don't want any more.

Arul (I think) It's better if he doesn't get married. You made the right decision. Don't change.

3rd

Anbu narration: I felt like seeing her again. After many days I went to the hospital.

Anbu (to someone at the hospital): You checked the bills, there's no problem? [-----]

dissolve to Anbu walking

Anbu (answering cell): Hello?

Maya: Sir, this is Maya speaking.

Anbu: Are you doing okay?

Maya: I'm fine, can we talk?

Anbu: Sure, speak.

Maya: I wanted to ask why you didn't come to see me. It's been 3 weeks since I came out of the hospital. You didn't visit me. Not even a phone call.

Anbu: I didn't want to disturb you. You said "Thanks for everything" when you got into the car. It sounded like you wanted to be left alone.

Maya: What? I didn't say anything like that. I was a little angry at you because you didn't visit me. [----].

Many of the publicity plates praise various members of the crew. Gautam, Harris Jayaraj, Peter Hayne (fights), Anthony (editor), Parthiban (art direction IIRC), etc. One features Rajinikanth praising the film and a few others include mentions of Surya's acting. Other plates mention the grosses of the film and one or two celebrate the 50 days run.

The commentary on Fast Times at Ridgemont High goes on for a few minutes after the feature is over, and the rest of the commentary goes on while we see a black screen. Something like this could have been done.

I read some article that said Kaaka Kaaka was possibly being remade in English. Any confirmation or is it a rumor?

The deleted scenes aren't subtitled? I remember hearing somewhere that Ayngaran has a large non-Tamil customer base (including me) - so surely they should cater for these people when producing DVDs?

Oh well, I suppose we can't have everything.......
