Also newly listed Shemaroo DVDs:

MAALIK $ 4.99 (Rajesh Khanna-Sharmila)
WAARIS $ 4.99 (Jeetender, Hema in Hot Pants, Daisy Irani's first adult role as vamp)

Also Mughl-e-azam $ 2.99

Shuman, is Maalik and Waaris genuine Shemaroo as per your latest list??

I am sure "Ek Chadar Maili Si" is genuine even though shemaroo.com claims not been released yet. As for "Waaris", "Maalik", I believe they are possibly genuine (However, i would be skeptical.) as well as shemaroo do have them under vcd once upon a time.

rana, are you getting any of these titles? Thanks for the MNJ info, i got a new version of the dvd (new cover, new disc cover), but menu and the print is still the same (184mins).

My MNJ was shipped in Sept this year to my sister's address in India. It must be the same as yours?? It's 183-184 min long.

IW seems to be adding new Shemaroo titles every hour and Today's specials for older Shemaroo titles.

http://216.247.121.93/store/dvd.asp

What's going on. Many of these (my favs) like, Khandaan, Apna Desh, Waaris etc never had good prints avail before.

Waaris $ 4.99
Khandaan $ 4.99
Sherni $ 4.99
Apna Desh $ 4.99
Avishkaar $ 2.99
Sparsh $ 2.99
Paakeezah $ 2.99

The way their site is updating, there might be more, shortly.

and rana, avoid putting non-shemaroo (eg. jurmana) title in the list, people like me will get confused.

I placed the order when Ek Chadar Maili Si, Maalik and Waaris was showing, only to realise they have added more... By the way, JURMANA is Samrat, not Shemaroo!

Oops. My mistake. Somehow, I thought, Jurmaana was Shemaroo, which it's not.
Edited my post.

(3 more DVDs added Mar 27, 2003)

So far, marking “Enhanced for smooth viewing” does not relate to Pseudo-prog or Field Averaged encoding.
There may be some clues from Bombay Music Sticker, Date packaged, where bought, etc.

Here is the grouping of 20 or so Shemaroo DVDs that I have:

1)
Satyam Shivam, Sundaram
Mughl-e-Azam
Bobby
Sangam

Bought locally from retailer. Cheap. Bought late 2001- early 2002.
No inserts.

Markings/ Price Sticker/ Pkd date:
Rs 750
Pkd 5/2001
SHEMAROO engraved on the disc inner ring = No

PQ:
SSS, MEA, Bobby are Pseudo-prog.
Sangam is field averaged.

2)
Shri 420
Prem Rog
Awara

Bought locally from retailer. Cheap. Bought late 2001- early 2002.
No inserts.

Markings/ Price Sticker/ Pkd date:
Rs 750
Pkd 6/2001
SHEMAROO engraved on the disc inner ring = No

PQ:
All are field averaged.

3)
Paakeezah

Bought locally from retailer. Reg price. Bought late 2001- early 2002.
Inserts: YES.

Markings/ Price Sticker/ Pkd date:
Rs 750
Pkd 5/2001
SHEMAROO engraved on the disc inner ring = No

PQ:
Field averaged. (Arsh says his copy is Pseudo-Prog)
(Arsh's copy of Paakeezah seems to be different than mine. His copy has a sticker, mine does not. His copy is Pseudo-prog, mine is field averaged)

Update: Arsh's copy is a newer version with new encoding. Prefer Arsh's version.

4)
Bullet
Chor Chor

Bought from IW. Reg Price. Bought late 2002- early 2003.
Inserts: YES.

Markings/ Price Sticker/ Pkd date:
Covered with BOMBAY MUSIC Sticker
SHEMAROO engraved on the disc inner ring = Yes

PQ:
Both field averaged.

5)
Kaajal
Afsana Pyar Ka

Bought Locally. Reg Price. Bought early 2003.
Inserts: NO.

Markings/ Price Sticker/ Pkd date:
Covered with BOMBAY MUSIC Sticker.
(Kaajal cover is not sharp??)
SHEMAROO engraved on the disc inner ring = Yes

PQ:
Afsana Pyar Ka is Pseudo-Prog but very bad PQ.
Kaajal is Field Averaged.

6)
Saudagar
Tere Mere Sapne
Hero
Karma
Karz
Sadma
Ram Teri Ganga Maili

Bought from IW. Reg Price. Bought early 2003.
Inserts: YES.

Markings/ Price Sticker/ Pkd date:
Only TMS Covered with Shemaroo price sticker (instead of BOMBAY MUSIC Sticker). Pkd 1/2003 (Sadma Pkd 9/2002).
SHEMAROO engraved on the disc inner ring = Yes
All in this group without doubt, Indian Shemaroo.

PQ:
All Pseudo-Prog.

7)
Chhupa Rustam

Bought from IW. Reg Price. Bought early 2003.
Inserts: YES.

Markings/ Price Sticker/ Pkd date:
BOMBAY MUSIC Sticker
SHEMAROO engraved on the disc inner ring = Yes

PQ:
Pseudo-Prog.

8)
Jab Jab Phool Khile

Bought from IW. Reg Price. Bought early 2003.
Inserts: YES.

Markings/ Price Sticker/ Pkd date:
Only TMS Covered with Shemaroo price sticker (instead of BOMBAY MUSIC Sticker). Pkd 10/2002.
SHEMAROO engraved on the disc inner ring = Yes

PQ:
Field Averaged

9)
(Arsh has Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na. Arsh will give further details. Arsh found it Field Averaged. )

Rana

Update on Mar 27, 2003.

Looks like the corelation is Date of encoding. Newer encodings are better. For example Paakeezah newer version is better. Similarly newly released Shemaroo DVDs are mostly Pseudo-prog and better PQ.

Rana

Adding info for another 15 Shemaroo DVDs:
(Bought directly from Shemaroo in India; Sept 2003)

Dharam Karam Pseudo-Prog
Mera Naam Joker Pseudo-Prog (Part 3 is Field Averaged)
Beta Pseudo-Prog
Chori Chori Chupke Chupke Pseudo-Prog
Hindustani Pseudo-Prog
Jewel Thief Pseudo-Prog
Waqt Pseudo-Prog
Yaadein Pseudo-Prog
(All Subhash Ghai collection is Pseudo-Prog)

Barsaat (Raj Kapoor) Field Averaged
Jaagte Raho Field Averaged
Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai Field Averaged
Kal Aaj Aur Kal Field Averaged
Shri 420 Field Averaged
The Great Gambler Field Averaged
Humraaz (Sunil Dutt) Field Averaged

Rana

Add:

Chhalia(Raj Kapoor) Field Averaged (Silver media as opposed to somewhat golgdish on other Shemaroo DVDs)

Ashanti Field Averaged

Rana

Jeetender Leena Chandravarkar: HUMJOLI :
Another of the better encoded DVDs by Shemaroo, it's Pseudo-Progressive like Subhash Ghai Collection .

Humjoli Hilites:
Girls Kabbaddi song (Long before UK Bhangra song "Khelni Kabbaddi by ---)
Mehmood mimmicking and playing tripple role Prithvi Raj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor and Randhir Kapoor.
Mumtaz item #
And of course, Leena Chandravarkar.
