Anyone who lives in Toronto, or has been to Downtown core of Toronto would know this... wonder why Indian filmmakers believe in such illogical things.

you see shots of "front street" "bay street" and a lot of TTC buses (Toronto Transit Commission) throughout the movie.

This is like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.. they said Italy and shot somewhere in Bulgaria (I think)

I don't live in Toronto and have only been there a few times and even I was able to make out and pointed out to my wife that they had shot parts of the film in Toronto and were passing it off as New York. Also neither am I a New Yorker but even then I found the fact that Preity Zinta goes jogging in Central Park from Queens quite hilarious and also I kept wondering why would she be taking the Staten Island ferry to go to work from Queens.

Its not just Bollywood, Hollywood does the same thing. They say its much cheaper to shoot in Toronto and I don't think there are any film workers union restrictions either. :baaa:

the same thing happend with pardes it was mostly shot in vancouver canada while they passed it off as u.s. Also the english movie Agent Cody Banks they said it was seattle while it was vancouver and sopme scene from scary movie 3. Even in KMG after they move back to india they start showing scene shot in vancouver

It is alright to shoot in alternate locations, but only as long as care is taken to maintain the authencity of the script. As long as major landmarks are avoided and one cannot tell that it is a different locale then there is no problem. My problem is with Indian films wherein even an idiot can tell that the location used for the shooting is not what the script suggests. This is the most common in song picturizations.
