FIRST thing FIRST..They are stated ANAMORPHIC..But damn thing is NOT ANAMORPHIC...they are PSEUDO ANAMORPHIC..Mark my WORDS!! PSEUDO ANAMORPHIC..

What makes you say, these are pseudo-anamorphic?? Screen caps don't indicate that.

You mean to say that the screen caps from 2in1 are AR adjusted?? Without AR adjustment, the pic is 33% taller??

Well, thats the way it looks on my home theatre display..

I saw a copy of DAD too, and it was pseudo stretched too..

HTHS does not show that anomaly..

hths was relatively better transfer than devdas imho..

I just figured out, how to test for pseudo anamorphic..I think, if u play regular/orig/anamorphic devdas on a 4:3 TV, the picture will have bigger black bars as compare to 2 in one devdas..

and If u see any round image, it will look stretched vertically, and OVAL..try it, if u have both or one!!

yup, pseudo anamorphic dvds are vertically stretched on 4:3 displays.

and you'd notice much more degradation of picture quality on those screen caps if there was movement during the scene.

[arent all anamorphic dvds vertically stretched on 4:3 display]

??? Now I am confused yaar!! I think, we need another reference thread to explain anamorphic and how it is dsplayed on 4:3 sets, with anamorphic squeeze and sets without anamorphic squeeze! :baaa:

Definitely not.

All DVD players have a setting option to set the DVD player for either a 4:3 TV or a 16:9 TV. Setting this setting right for a 4:3 TV should display the picture correctly even if the DVD is anamorphic.

A vertically stretched picture should not be called Pseudo-anamorphic.
It is erroneous/ defective DVD, made defective on purpose. This does allow extra resolution that you get from an anamorphic DVD, but only if you watch it on a wide screen TV and incorrectly set your DVD player setting for a 4:3 TV. 4:3 TV owners are out of luck. They can not correct the vertical stretch.

even if you change your dvd player settings to 16X9 (widescreen), the picture would be the same. you can't make a non-anamorphic dvd, anamorphic.
