Remember Kaho...Naa Pyaar Hai, well at least the DVD of this film. The film was okay (over rated in my opinion) but the DVD by DEI was fantastic. It was like one of the best Indian DVDs period, and it is today. They re-released it as a two disc version but the movie was the same on the first disc.

Well, it seems Koi Mil Gaya from Rakesh Roshan and Filmkraft is going to be released by Yash raj films so I wouldn't be surprised if they release the DVD too. So much for the first sci fi movie, the DVD is going to be crap.

By the way why is everyone calling this the FIRST sci fi indian movie, because it has an alien? The first indian sci fi to my recollection (successful one) is Mr. India. The DVD isn't bad either (bad sound though) BUT that was the first Indian sci fi not this. Not that a whole bunch of film makers jumped on the sci fi bandwagon after that. They may if KMG hits the bulls eye.

IMHO calling Yashraj DVDs "crap" is going a little overboard. They might not author DEI quality dvds but their new releases of movies like K3G, Mohabatain, MDK, and Saathiya are decent and watchable. I would rather have them author it than ERO$, Video Sound, Spark or any other company besides DEI.

Why do people at Zulm.net think that a all DVDs unless done by DEI or BEI are CRAP? I said this once and I'll say it again it is only the people on zulm.net that think that all Indian DVDs are crap and etc.

Anyways...

I second the statement that Yashrajfilms does good DVDs on new releases.

I'll be happy, if the DVD is K3G quality.

K3G and Mohabbatein both, were anamorphic and progressive. I think, both were tele-cine converted in North America meaning direct film to NTSC.

Saathiya and MDK both are field averaged interlaced; result of tele-cine in India from film to PAL and then to NTSC.

Actually I get more pissed off at the pricing. Yashraj DVDs are way way overpriced. Even hollywood DVDs go on sale and have street price that is low when they first come out. With Yashraj you'll never get a DVD below 20 bucks Canadian (online or video shop). What's ironic is that they may not be the worst but their competitors which are better (DEI/BEI being the obvious one) are cheaper!!!

That makes no sense. They don't put any "extra" effort into their DVDs that justify that kind of price. They are better than Eros (I have yet to have a Yashraj DVD freeze and refuse to play...I own about 5 of them) but that isn't saying much. Who isn't better than Eros? Maybe Baba or Apollo? But those guys don't even count, Baba and Apollo shouldn't even be making DVDs, I have seen some VHS stuff that is better than those two.

Finally, someone on Zulm.net that agrees with me!!! Most of the people(non-zulmies) that i talk to about indian DVDs think that the new Yashraj DVDs are better in quality than the other DVD producers. It's only on zulm that people use words like "crap DVD" and "worst ever DVD" to refer to yashraj dvds!!!

In the original post, there was no mention of price. Just that since it's a yashraj DVD it is "crap."

ksingh ji, if u ask me, even vcd looks good on 27 to 32 inch direct tv.. :baaa:

and on ur 57 hdtv, if yrf looks great, all eros/spark/vs /rainbow/tips should look equally good!!

Now would u like to pay $6-10 or $20 plus? ur choice!!

I wont? as I dont see any benefits in YRF products, on my HDTV etc, for 2-3X cost! :baaa: ???
