2/10( one of the most irritating films i have seen all year round. only saving grace was abhishek bachchan not overacting)

Interesting film which had its funny moments. Very good music and good acting.

I have yet to see Qayamat or Jaal........ Darna mana hai is on the list too.........

CHALTE CHALTE - 7.5/10 (nothing special about the script, but still, a delight to watch)

QAYAMAT - 4/10 (stupid, but nice effects=popcorn entertainment)

Hmm... some ratings are kinda crazy but here you go....

Armaan - 7/10 - simple plot, good acting, a nice mood, preity OVERACTED way too much, and too little of AB
Andaaz - 4/10 - cliched story, subpar acting, a very overdramatic ending
Ishq Vishq - 8/10 - cliched plot yet very entertaining, nice locations, decent acting, and a very pleasing mood.
Bhoot - 6.5/10 - good star cast, good acting, but very straightforward copy of The Exorcist with no thrills whatsoever.... still nice try for RGV
Chalte Chalte - 7/10 - extremely cliched plot, but I liked the first half..., decent songs, ok acting, but horrible ending
Jhankaar Beats - 10/10 - definately my fav film of the year so far... the whole movie is just 100% entertainment... good acting, good plot, very funny, and Rahul Bose is just amazing!
Mr. and Mrs. Iyer - 9.5/10 - Very good movie, very good cinematography, very good acting!
Saaya - 8/10 - well made film, amazing acting by John Abraham, and nice cinematography...
Qayamat - 8.5/10 - bad ripoff of action classic The Rock, but good acting, nice girls, amazing cinematography and some nifty FX/wirefu... very good popcorn flick!
Jaal - 8.5/10 - good twists, good action, ok acting, overall very entertaining!
Hawa - 0/10 - no redeeming value whatsoever and it was just absurd to see Tabu get raped a million times!!! How low could the makers' morals be?? This is not art, just playing to the lowest common denominator and I'm APALLED to see Tabu taking part in the movie.
MPKDH - 4/10 - no comments, it was just a pretty bad movie

AND NOW THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT OF THE SEASON!!!

Darna Marna Hai - 3/10 - WHAT A DUMB FUCKING MOVIE!!!! Good cast, nice cinematography but how the HELL can they go SO WRONG!!!! All of the stories were just so dumb, there was no thrills, no quirkiness, and no dark comedy... for a good dark comedy watch "Praan Jaaye Par Shaan Na Jaaye". This movie is just so dumb, I don't think it can ever get any better on repeat viewings. Yes, I wanna see the Nana Patekar story, but the Saif Ali Khan, or the teacher story is so stupid. The Shilpa Shetty story will have you in fits of insanity, and the Aftaab story will leave u so disappointed - I saw its ending coming miles away! And to top it off, the film's climax is just so dumb and retarded that it makes no friggin sense. Man yes Hawa was a much worse movie... but this movie has an excellent cast and comes from an ace writer/director - where did they go wrong????

Seriously underwhelming films this year. I pray that PINJAR, LOC and TAJ MAHAL will make up for the crap I've had to sit through...

ARMAAN **1/2 out of ****
Decent film, well directed and acted, but the screenplay is ludicrous. Gracy Singh surprises with a great perf.

CHALTE CHALTE ** out of ****
He's supposed to be a working class simple-minded guy, but he wears designer jeans and shirts (one thing that bothered me). Otherwise, fairly unimpressive film.

MEIN PREM KI DIWANI HOON 0 out of ****
Utter garbage. There is NOTHING redeeming about this film AT ALL.

BHOOT ** out of ****
Tremendously dissapointing. I expected more than re-hashes of WHAT LIES BENEATH and THE EXORCIST. The finale is unintentionally hilarious. Hard to believe this is the same person who made COMPANY.

NAYEE PADOSAN * out of ****
Dumb movie, not worth commenting on. The heroine was extremely unattractive EAT SOMETHING GIRL!!!

KHUSHI 1/2 out of ****
If it wasn't for MPKDH, this would be my most detested film of the year. What a great year Kareena Kapoor is having!!

Jhankaar Beats: 8.5/10 - sort of like DCH after 5 yrs, very enjoyable movie with nice performances
Haasil: 7.5/10 - one of the few films this year that kept me thoroughly engrossed
Bhoot: 7/10 - good acting and first half, disappointing climax
Saaya: 6/10 - nicely copied film with good performance by John Abraham, would've rated it higher if it wasn't a copy
Chalte Chalte: 5.5/10 - ok for killing time but one of SRK's worst performances
Armaan: 5/10 - terrible screenplay held up by some decent performances
Ishq Vishq: 5/10 - got a few things right, plus Amrita
Andaaz: 2/10 - the 2 just for the skin show from the girls (mainly Priyanka)
Qayamat: 2/10 - the 2 again for the skin show from the girls (mainly Riya and Isha)
MPKDH: 0/10 - haven't seen, but would still like to give it a 0

Despite the mixed reviews, looking forward to DMH.

Actually, I was trying to keep, 2002 out of this, and also, I think, I posted, Armaan/mr mrs iyer/jism/J2M2 ratings before, so left those out!!

I have due respect for PASAND APNI APNI, KHYAL APNA APNA!

It looks like rana sahab have not seen, SAAYA/JAAL/JISM/MR MRS IYER/ISHQ VISHK..

I have not seen, JHANKAR BEATS/HAASIL yet!!

1) I included older films to relate my ratings to the kind of films that I like.

2) I've not seen those films yet. I tried watching Ishq Vishq twice on DVD. Not interesting enough for me in the beginning that I changed to other unseen DVDs. Once I watch full film, I might begin to like it.

I hope to see Jaal, DMH in theatre and others on DVD, soon.

ISHQ VISHK is NOT TARGETED to MATURE AUDIENCE/MASSES yaar!!


It is TARGETED to CAMPUS audience!! and EXCELS in that respect!!

Music is EXCELLENT and NEW GUY SHAHID KAPOOR( new SRK) and AMRITA RAO are vERY COMPETENT, MUSIC is EXCELLENT for the FILM, and FILMING is VERY GOOD!!

Same for SAAYA/JHANKAR BEATS..Targeted to CLASSES mostly..


WHILE...QAYAMAT/JAAL/ANDAAZ are MASS ORIENTED/TARGETED films!!IMHO

WHILE../MPKDH prob..MISSED TARGETED!!

CHALTE CHALTE...SRK, just GOT LUCKY..NO COMMENTS..I prefer his HTHS any day to CC!!

Qayamat is like a rock in small centers and will outgross films like Andaaz,Chalte Chalte and Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon in the long run

due to its bumper business in Gujarat,East Punjab,Rajasthan,Bihar and UP.

I liked these films when I saw them, before the trade results came in. May be I should be in the business of predicting Box Office results before the film release. Is there a demand??

Agree with you 100% arsh.

The thread was about rating new films. You and others rated according to your choice and I rated according to my choice. I rated films according to my preferrence that which film would I like to see in a theatre for my ten bucks, not whether a film is good or bad.

But, I notice it now that the films that I liked, later turned out to be Box Office successes. This barometer might be useful to film producers. LOL.

BTW, I too liked MK over Mohabbatein. I saw both in theatre.

DID see BOTH MOHABTAEN/MK, back to back..on 2 week ends..Mohabtaen..was BORING..

Last film I saw in tHEATRE was BHOOT..I loved it, I was on EDGE of my seat..for 2 hrs..

DMH..I did not DARE..CAST does not EARN my THEATRE TICKET!!

IMHO, OVERACTING, is WHAT HRITHIK did in MPKDH, JAYA BACHAN /KAJOL, in K3G...??? Reema Sen..? to some Extent in JAAL..But again, it became TOLERABLE, the WAY HER ROLE WAS WRITTEN>>

I always thought..SONALI BENDRE was OVERACTING in HDAPH...Jumping all the time..but SHE WON FF for that!!

SRK..has HUGE TENDENCY to OVER ACT, if DIRECTOR does not KEEP HIM CHECKED..IMHO, he was OVERACTING..HUGELY in SHAKTI..in extended GUEST APPEARANCE!!
