It's do or die for Hrithik?

Rediff Entertainment Bureau | July 14, 2003 20:56 IST

The unexpected failure of Sooraj R Barjatya's Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon seems to have shortchanged Hrithik Roshan's career.
The 29-year-old actor, however, is taking the disappointment in his stride. Instead of brooding over his flops, Hrithik is actively engaged in the publicity of his home production, Koi...Mil Gaya.

Directed by father Rakesh Roshan, the film carries excellent pre-release reports. Roshan Sr had earlier directed Hrithik's debut Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, which turned the young actor into an overnight celebrity.

If the film works, Hrithik will be back in the reckoning. If not, Roshan's last chance is Farhan Akhtar's Lakshya (Amitabh Bachchan, Preity Zinta).

Unphased With Negative Response, Hrithik Roshan Busy With KMG Post-Production
By: Abid
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hrithik Roshan has taken the criticism heaped on him for his bad show in Sooraj Barjatya´s Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, in his stride and rather than brood over it, he has moved ahead.

Hrithik is busy these days with the post-production work of his dad Rakesh Roshan's Koi... Mil Gaya. He is even supervising the special effects work of the film in Bangalore.

Incidentally the other special effects work of the film are being done in Los Angeles.

These make and break articles are so silly. Like everybody
else who's established he just moves on whether the last
film was a flop or a hit.

I wouldn't exactly call Hrithik established.......he had a good masala type debut, and was good in Fiza and Mission Kashmir, but since then, he hasn't really shown a good script sense in my opinion - most of his films have been bad.

That's not true; what about AMALL, MPKDH, and Yaadein? Those haven't been bad, they have been so atrociously terrible that I would rather sit in the bathroom and pretend to take a dump than watch that crap :D .

Well, I think KMG will be a hit. For once I have put my
money where my conviction is. (Don't ask for details, but
no, I'm not releasing the DVD). :)

i sort of agree...the time's come for Bollywood to make sci-fi movie and what better theme than ET-Phenomenon-Gump combined into one....but only time will tell......btw long ago in an article on Sulekha I had mentioned a wish list of the types of movies I had wanted to see coming out of Bollywood....it included period films, sci-fi and the return of the mythologicals.....in a matter of months of the article LAGAAN was released and became a hit.....some readers had pooh-poohed the thought of a sci-fi movie made in india....even rubbished the thought saying that it 'cannot fly in India' because the hoi-polloi were not fed on such things unlike those in the Western countries....I had begged to differ quoting Satyajit Ray's stories and tele-series that had been popular...in a sense this is a test for that theory....it will be interesting to see how the janata-janardhan reacts to this type of movie....and finally ofcourse the mythologicals.....I am sure those will come too....soon enough!!!!

KMG does look somewhat interesting, although each new trailer diminishes that interest a bit. The first trailer was really intriguing but it has been downhill from there. I can see where Rakesh Roshan can put all the masala ingredients in here, so it could very well be a big hit. For Hritik's sake at least, I hope it is.

But unfortunately a hit is not always a good movie.

Just out of interest, what makes you think that this film will be successful?

Looking good for KMG.

http://www.boxofficeindia.com/

BOX OFFICE LATEST-updated 31st July 14.00 IST

The advance booking of Koi Mil Gaya opened a week earlier at some important cinemas like New Excelsior and Chandan in Mumbai and Chanakaya and Vishal in Delhi. The response was mind boggling to put it midly. The film will break many records in major centers. If the the B and C centers react in the same way we will have the biggest opening since Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.As the film is carrying brilliant reports it look set to put Hrithik back on the top seat.
