the movie itself is half decent. the real big problem with this movie is that they got british-indian or indian actors to portray trinidadian characters, meaning these actors screwed up the trini accent pretty badly. even worse, there were some authentic trinidadian actors in the film which made the accents of the indian actors even more unconvincing because of the contrast.
if you know how a trini accent is supposed to sound, you'll find this movie really funny and really fake because of the terrible accents.
Yeah, I remember seeing a scene from the film on TV and the accent for actors Sanjeev Bhaskar, Zora Sehgal and even Ayesha Dharkar was totally overdone and unconvincing.
It's a shame really, as I hear it's a really good book and the film could've mad a great adaptation if only they got certain things right.
