[Bombay was cropped and dubbed, but I watched about 5 minutes and the quality wasn't horrendous, but neither was it great.]

Bombay is one of the WORST DUBBED movies, i saw in Theatre!! esp during songs, Expressions and lip movements were wAY WAY off!! I was disgusted indeed!! :stupid: :angry:

they clearly just grabbed whatever the BBC had.
They were all PAL-NTSC conversions.
sickeningly bad...

GOOD!! I did not miss much!! My DIRECT TV package does not include TCM, and I am glad, just to record these, I did not ORDER, upgraded package!!

I guess, i was lucky!! :laugh: :hmm:

Mother India, Do Bigha Zameen, and Pyaasa were on last night. I didn't watch MI, but I saw most of DBZ and all of Pyaasa. DBZ was an incredible movie. Transfer was crap, though. Pyaasa was good also, and the transfer was very good, aside from the PAL speed-up. It wasn't overly DNRed, so things weren't always being blurred. Good contrast and brightness, which is important because of the beautiful use of light and shadow. The picture wasn't overly soft, and the quality IMO approached that of the American films TCM plays. Some dust speckled the print, but it was unobtrusive. I doubt the YRF DVD is even close to this quality. Looked better than DDLJ.
