are there any PS2 mod-chips that would allow me to play *backup* games, and any region dvds? also, most importantly, are there any where you won't have to go opening, unscrewing, soldering etc? ie. one which i can just plug into some slot, and not have to worry about it again?

any help would be appreciated!

You have to open the PS2 up to chip it – there’s no other way - like the ps1 had numerous ways to by pass the security by external mods/hacks, PS2 can't do this, it's the most complex of the consoles to chip – needs loads of soldiering points. Best chip for it is the new DMS3 http://www.dms3.com/

Dograk,

Check out the PS2 forums at gamespot. Those forums have a lot of information.

arey arsh, the reason i'm looking to mod ps isn't cuz of asoka - if it doesn't work, oh well, - but yesterday i tried trading in the games that i had at EBWorld - and they're giving me only around $10 for them!! and when i bought them, at full retail price, i have MORE THAN 1 GRAND of these games!!

that's so bs. that's why i was looking at pirated games...plus if the chip could do multiregion, that would be good, since then i could watch asoka as well :)

Dograk,

Try http://www.mod-chip.com. They are selling something called Slide Card. You don't have to open up the PS2 to install it.

I've not got a ps2 anymore and not heard of the Slide-Card
- seems like a swap trick method for backup games only, it won't make your ps2 multiregion.

There's a few one wire mods available;
http://www.modchip.com/ps2/usbmodorder.htm
..but still requires the swap trick.

Only complete, no swap and all in one mods are chip based that you have to soldier. From what I gathered, there’s a few that pretty much do the same job; magic, messiah, judas and dms – prices vary and complexity of soldiering vary. DMS 3 v2 is the lastest and is considered the most complete mod chip for the ps2 – that’s until the next one comes along :baaa:
