Vanilla Sky gets ripped by Hollywood Reporter and others as a lethal letdown. Movie will open big but will it have wings to fly?
To quote Hollywood reporter "Paramount should anticipate a drop-off that reflects films failure both as art and entertainment".

Vanilla Sky one of the worst movies I have seen this year.
Think of this as Eyes wide shut part 2.

This is a supposedly a remake of a Spanish film Open Your Eyes aka. Abre Los Ojos which I've got somewhere but never seen - might dig it out as it got nominated for 10 Spanish Academy Awards! :0

Typically of Hollywood probably trashed the whole concept in the remake/inspired process :rolleyes:

Don't know about Vanilla Sky, but watched Open Your Eyes - and it's a brilliant film, very unconventional and keeps messing with your mind until the end! Recommended viewing - believe me it's one of those films the less your read about the better they are.

Now I'm curious to see how Vanilla Sky is and how well it ‘adapted’ from the original.

Don't bother Ali - I was really excited about this one, but it's just a copycat of OPEN YOUR EYES. Crowe is completely unoriginal here; the performances fare no better (only Cameron Diaz is solid). Yes, it does resemble EYES WIDE SHUT, but that was better in all respects. You should watch it, but I absolutely hated it for its self-indulgent purpose.

I've just previewed the film at work. All I can say is that I really enjoyed it. Think Fight Club, (the end of)A.I and Jerry Maguire 'the acid Years' and your someway close to understanding the film.
Give the film a chance. :alien:

just saw this one,this has to be one of the worst movies this year. Will rent the spanish version -Open your eyes - just out of curiousity.

Just heard on the radio that Open Your Eyes will be shown by C4 on 2nd Feb 12.10 am (UK Only).
