Theatre Strikes , Double Trouble For Bollywood?

The industry is yet to find a way to resolve the deadlock between the the producers and distributors over sattelite and DVD/VCD rights and now the theatre owners in Mumbai have decided to go on strike from May 16.
The two main demands put forward by theatre owners are reduction in entertainment tax from the present 60 per cent to 30 per cent (like it was done in Delhi recently) and also the removal of taxes on box office collections.
Meanwhile theatres in parts of Punjab continue to be closed for the third week and were joined by the theatre owners in Haryana from 7th April , the main culprit once again being the high entertainment tax . There are strong chances of their counterparts from Uttar Pradesh joining in soon.
The big releases that may directly bear the brunt are Armaan and Andaaz , that is if the producers and distributors are able to resolve their differences by then.
