I've just watched Saathiya on dvd and it is one of the best movies I have seen. Not to mention that technically it is excellent (sync sound)...But I am surprised no one mentioned that Saathiya is done in THX along side with DTS and Dolby Digital...

Of course I knew that Real image is now THX certified but I did not expect Saathiya to be the first release. In case anyone thinks that THX is passe or inaccurate, think again...Indian films need all the certification that Hollywood has to be technically on par. THX will create a quality conscious work culture.

Wow. That's good.

Bollywood must adhere to world standard.

Incredible. I stayed till the end credits of the film (as I always do when a film is good) but this time the cinema cut the credits halfway and I did not get to see the THX logo! And it wasn't printed on the posters either...

It's recorded in THX certified studio facilities.

My guess is that Kannathil Muthamittal was the first movie to be recorded in a THX certified facility.

I think that THX is just a gimmick to get more money for George Lucas. I seen many THX certified dvds that are not up to par with the regular ones.

Spike you are 100% on target when you say about the THX certification for DVDs, but in the case of THX certified facilities like this movie appeared to be used one of those facilities, also most of the THX certified Theaters and Home Theater equipment like AV Receivers does follow some kind of standard which otherwise not known to this industry in general.

And many non-THX DVDs that look awesome. Just proves that THX is pointless for DVDs. Even Lucas' own Attack of the Clones had excessive edge enhancement.

There is no doubt about that, as the THX logo is on the credits of the film not on the DVD cover.

Obviously the DVD is not THX. As ganti has said, the THX logo appeared in the credits of the film, not on the DVD. Anyway SuperDVD is not a THX certified company. My guess is, it never will be :;): Anyway Spike86, what makes you think Kannathil Muthamittal is the first THX film in India? Have you seen the credits?
It's strange, the films with new sound technologies always seem to be non-action dramas like Dillagi and Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar with Dolby EX 6.1 and Saathiya with THX.

Real Image just got certified by THX so how can Kannathil Muthamittal be THX?

Also like I said THX is very important for films in India and not for dvds or home theater. In western context, the studios recorded and replicating movies or dvds are already experienced and qualified while India or rather Indian films need all the "help" they can get. Do not write off THX. Why do you think Eros is so bad. Expensive equipment but without know how...

I remember seeing the THX logo on kannathil muthamittal's end credits. It was mixed at MEDIA ARTISTS in madras(a division of real image). They got certified by THX in Feb. 2002.

If you dont believe me check Anil Kedun's review of 'Kannathil muthamittal's at sunny's website and MEDIA artists' website.

Righto...I stand corrected...that means we have two excellent Indian films in THX.
