I thought it was MDE, long time ago!!Sound sucked too!!When dvds (hindi) started within a year or so? I have seen it on dvd, they also released Rangeela, that I bought and returned! later picked by DEI..

I think? Hindi/Tamil version, possibly have a bit different filming and actors? then no colaboration, I want them to stay pure of each other...

Nope... The hindi movie is a dubbed version of the original Tamil (even the telugu version is dubbed). Just like Roja etc.

It is a clever strategy by some southern directors to use at least one or two Bollywood actresses in their flicks so that the film will have a good run in the Hindi/Overseas market. Sometimes, they also use southern male actors who have some marketability within the Hindi audience e.g. Indian/Hindustani, Minsara Kanavu/Sapnay, Kandukodain Kandukondain (no dub, subtitles instead), Jeans, Bombay, Mudhalvan, Alavandan/Abhay, Hey Ram. Of these Kamal Hassan is obviously the most accepted actor from the south to the rest of India.

Sunny audit,s post:
The film was released in Stereo in Hindi and DTS in Tamil, and the dubbing was only done in Hindi after Jumund Shughand saw the Tamil film while in post-production and with A.R Ratnam produced the dubbed film in Hindi and reshot a couple of scenes.

Were there any official releases of Hindustani on DVD? I know of one or two pirate versions.

In any case, a progressive/OAR/original language version of Indian from Ayngaran is sure to rock the casbah. :bash:

Didn't BABA Digital Release This DVD (I Know The PQ Sucked) I Thought It Was Dubbed? :hmm:

DML released this DVD a while back, PQ is just ok and sound nothing to yell home about...damn DVD doesnt work in my DVD Rom so sorry no snaps

If Hindustani was DTS then that would make it the first ever Hindi film to have DTS 6 channel sound and not Judwaa, as Hindustani came out in June 19 1996 and Judwaa came out a year later in Feb 19 1997.

But don't really care about the awful dubbed version as the original "Indian" is out on DVD and I'm happy with the quality. I know Ayngaran will release an OAR anamorphic version really soon on DVD and I'm am trying to convince them to go for a dual DTS and Dolby version on the DVD. That would be wicked!

For the kind attention of Bhaskar :)

Even though someone is happy with an "interlaced" product, the mere fact that it is gonna be released "progressively" cheers him up, speaks volumes abt the quality of "interlaced" products....

Though I wonder, since when did Sunny Audit switch over to Progressively encoded DVDs :D

BTW sunny Its April 2003... whats cooking @ Ayngaran ?

I will CONSIDER AYANGRAN version only with 2nd audio(Hindi track), Prog, Anamorphic Widescreen with OAR!!Sound a WELL DONE DD 5.1 will do for me!!(I would prefer HINDI as 2nd audio track, even CRAP for Southish stnd, rather than DUAL DTS/DD FIASCO)

Any thing else, not ACCEPTABLE to me!!

BTW!! as NOW we have confirmed that this film(hindi version) was released in 6 Channel sound instead of 2, and as BEI has done, Shankar's JEANS!! They can do WONDER WITH THIS FILM, Shartiya, PROG, anamorphic, WS/OAR, and DYNAMIC DD 5.1 sound, I wont, ADVISE them to WASTE their money/Energy to create SUB OPTIMAL DTS!!

:D always helps to know that someone is "parenting" me..

Arsh, Ayngaran if they ever release progressive versions of their DVD's will be only in Tamil. I dont think they own the rights for the hindi dubbed versions, which I think are with Jhamu Sughand = (most likely EROS.. but again Astitva was a Jhamu Sughand film and it ended up with DEI :p )..

Their current batch of DVDs are (almost all) properly framed in their OAR. All that needs to rectified is the manner in which they encode them !..

Rangeela was before DEI and EROS split.... Rangeela was with MDE and thats why DEI was able to get a print of that dvd and release it. By The looks of it, I dont think EROS (who will buy out the rights of that film once the time period for MDE expires) will re-release that DVD, unless it has something very dramatic up its sleeve !
