I was never into Prog or Inter before, but thanks to you, Rana and others I am getting into it. Since I dont have a Prog TV (yet!) I didnt know this was a prog DVD. I was at work when I saw your post regarding this DVD and when I came home got the shots readied but the upload server for my ISP was not working and anyhow Ali already posted your shots. Anyhow, personally I love this DVD and it is now going to be really hard to find.

One thing I can't stand which Hindi films do is - preach. Who the hell is the screenwriter/director to preach to an audience. These people not are exactly renowned for their moral integrity. It seems that no one notices but films like AALC don't seem very honest to me. In my opinion the film was trying to cash on sentiments Indians usually fall for. I believe that a film should bring up a subject, make no judgements and let the topic sink into the audience. The audience can later decide if they want to make judgments. Characters have shades of grey - not black and white. Good examples of films like this include 1947 Earth (as opposed to Gadar), Company, Satya, Zubeidaa, Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar, Chandni Bar, Split Wide Open, Dil Chahta Hai, Leela. You may notice that a handful of Hindi films have really improved in this aspect. Old Hindi films tend to preach a lot and films like AALC are still relying on that formula.

Also Akshaye is supposed to be this son from a punjabi village but the second day in America he is completely at home driving his taxi through the streets of the city listening to pop music.

Actually Akshaye is not supposed to from a village in Punjab, but rather from the city of Delhi.

Aryan whats wrong in preaching ? At least he was trying to reflect what ordinary "Indians" think....

Getting attracted to the glitz and glamour of ABCD gals while ignoring their real gals back home :) If you are honest with ur self u may urself have had the sade afflictions sometime in your life. Its not until u come face to face with them, that you realize the vast difference between them. This is all he was preaching there !
Characters of Suman Ranganathan, Rajesh Khanna etc.

When someone preaches, he assumes the role of a learned mentor who is capable of imparting wisdom and knowledge to a lesser being - The makers of AALC hardly fall into this definition - at least not for me.

If you have a PC and Power DVD software installed on it, try PQ from some Progressive DVDs.
