pakistan's jang newspaper has reported people smashing their tv sets.. according to my friends back home in delhi their were firecrackers all over the place there.....
KARACHI: Angry and annoyed Pakistanis including youngsters and old people Saturday took to the streets in Karachi and many parts of interior Sindh against Pakistan’s worst defeat in today’s World Cup match against its rival country-India, sources informed.

They also chanted slogans against Pakistani cricket team and Pakistani cricket board, blocked main roads by setting fire to tyres. The frenzy mob in different parts of Karachi city also smashed glasses of many vehicles by stoning.

Reports of smashing down of their own home TV sets by furious viewers of game were also had from different parts of the city.

Well it will depend on many things....

England has to lose quite miserably against Australia.. which If I am not wrong, will not happen. They will lose but will lose in a close encounter. And that will put the onus on Pakistan... They will not only have to match England's N.R.R but they will also have to beat Zimbabwe by quite a huge margin... to achieve that result. I dont think Zimbabwe is a pushover...

Now in the liklihood of that happening... it all boils down to a 3- way tie between Pak, Zim and Eng and the NRR.. nothing else

Pak defeating Zim.. Zim defeating Eng and Eng defeating Pak...

At best you can see a glorious run chase or some to notch batting by Pak in the Zim match.

But this is all useless, if by some strange quirk of fate England actually goes and defeats Australia :)

Well one more thing... the Pak ppz have this nauseating habit of always gloating over the fact that India refuses to play Pak for fear of losing... I think this win should make quite a few of them shut up their mouth :) and behave like gentleman (
John Major.. Put up or Shut Up) :D

We watched the game with a Pakistani friend who quit and went home in the 10th Indian over...he knew it was all over right right then....we kept trying to cheer him up ke it was a big score and anything could happen....but it appeared he had more faith in India's batting or rather the Cricketing God's (for that is what he IS) assault strengths to demolish the Pakistani attack....Notice how each batsman has kept coming good in each match...and I think the unsung hero (like Robin was to Batman) is Kaif...my God...does that guy have nerves of steel or what....and amazingly he reminds me of another old favourite Azharuddin.....the same lanky looks, the same panther prawl in the field and the same lithe steps.....here's a guy that's to stay for good to serve his Country.....and those idiots in his hometown dare paint his house...shame on the morons.....

It does appear that if there is anybody that can take on Australia, it is India....I do hope it is an India-Aus final and ofcourse we give back to the people of Oz what we got a couple of weeks ago with due interest.....GO INDIA !!!

For a while it seemed like Diwali had come 7-8 months early this year. Atleast for a good hour or two it really seemed like it was Diwali with the number of firecrackers being set off all around the city (Delhi). There were people dancing in the streets to the beat of 'Dhols'. There were even some wackos holding up traffic on the streets in the name of celebrations, I guess they are the same wackos that go attacking the homes of the cricketers upon India doing badly.

Anyhow, it was a great victory and an even greater batting display by Sachin Tendulkar, who in this World Cup is really putting to rest any doubts about his ability to come good for India in the big games. I for one was very saddened by him getting out on 98, for if Sachin ever deserved a century it was today.

By the way although I am very happy that India won today, I would be happier still if India go on to win the World Cup. None of that wacko crap for me, you know the crap that 'who cares about the Cup as long as India beats Pakistan'. Heck i'd take the Cup any day over just winning against Pakistan. Ofcourse nothing like winning the Cup and on the way to it beating Pakistan too. :D

Joy in India, gloom in Pakistan after big game

REUTERS[ SUNDAY, MARCH 02, 2003 01:37:08 AM ]

NEW DELHI/ISLAMABAD: Cricket-crazy fans danced on the streets in New Delhi but were plunged into gloom in Islamabad after India beat Pakistan in what was billed as the "Clash of the Centurion".

The Indian team cruised to a six-wicket win in a World Cup match between players of the two hostile neighbours at Centurion Park in South Africa that had deep political undertones.

"We won the war without any bloodshed!" said Rahul Rathi, a 28-year-old businessman in Kolkata.

"It's a really big disappointment for all of us, especially because it was a match against India," said Islamabad resident Fahmina Tariq.

In the heart of the Indian capital, fans erupted with joy, dancing in the streets to throbbing music. Millions elsewhere in India also took to the streets, setting off firecrackers, beating drums and chanting, "Long live India, we're the champs!"

"This is what we wanted to see - India playing Pakistan and walloping them. My friends and I screamed ourselves hoarse," New Delhi cricket fan Samir Rai said.

In Bangalore, 20 motorcyclists drove in formation through the downtown carrying a huge Indian flag, shouting deliriously.

But across the border in Pakistan, the streets were deserted as the country's cricket lovers went into mourning.

"It was a disgrace, a horrible defeat at the hands of India," said an Islamabad housewife.

Cricket is like a religion in both countries, which have gone to war against each other three times since independence in 1947, twice over Kashmir.

The last time the countries met on the cricket field was in June 2000 in the Asia Cup in Dhaka when Pakistan triumphed. The Indian government has banned all bilateral cricket with Pakistan since then because of tensions over Kashmir.

Divided loyalties

In Kashmir, where a revolt against New Delhi's rule has raged since 1989, fans with divided loyalties clustered outside television shops showing the match.

"India won the game and taught Pakistan a lesson," said banker Bilkis Mir in Srinagar.

"I was praying Pakistan would win. We should have all prayed for them - we're religiously one," said student Tahir Bhat.

While the match was underway, streets and markets on both sides of the border were empty as young and old watched the action and some fans painted their faces in the colours of their national flags. In New Delhi, cinemas abandoned movies and screened the match instead.

But the intense passions have a darker side and authorities on both sides of the border had stepped up security in case the mood of fans turns ugly.

"We could see a 1996 World Cup-like situation when losing to India in Bangalore sparked a wave of agitation against Wasim Akram who was the skipper then," Abdul Mohi Shah, a sports commentator, said in Islamabad.

Just two weeks ago, irate fans in India were berating their country's cricketers after their poor World Cup start.

Captain Sourav Ganguly was given a mock funeral in Kolkata while black paint was hurled at middle-order batsman Mohammad Kaif's house in Allahabad.

But India's fans now appeared to have been pacified.

"We don't care any more if we don't win the World Cup," said Saket Malhotra, a 26-year-old doctor, pouring himself a shot of Tequilla. "Beating Pakistan is enough for me!"

Ok guys... faddy is here on the scene!! :ffs: Suppose i have to answer to such comments that were indirectly pointed at moi:

Which begs the question, where are the real Pak supporters in here ?

and

wonder manchester mein kya ho raha hoga?

Ok so yes we have a major defeat on our hands and it is sad maybe even depressing to know we may (actually fuk that we wont) even make it into the super sixes, instead we`ll see shitty Kenya there.... now that is a piss take!! But like I said yesterday before the match even started my money was actually on India winning!! Even though im majorily disheartened over seeing Pakistan lose, i can just cherish the fact that Pakistan has beating India twice as many times as India has beaten Pakistan in ODI....:bash: Pakistan are currently on shit form, just like india has been in shit form many times before.... Theyre sportsmen, and every dog has their day.. and yes it does look as though Pakistan are a bunch of dogs at this moment in time.. i`d hate to be in their shoes landing at Lahore international airport of that PIA plane of theirs.. theyre gonna get slaughtered!! :ffs: Oh well it gives us four more years to get some new talent into the squad and hopefully bring back the Jazba that we once had in the pakistan cricketing side... Inshallah by then, Politics will be brush aside and more countried will be touring and playing us at home, which will surely make a big difference!!

I reckon the Pakistan cricket team need to listen to Junoons Jazbe-Junoon track and get their shit into gear... fukin arsewipe:

Hai Jazba Junoon to himat na haar,
Justujo jo kare wo chuhai aasmaan,
Mehnat Apnee Hogee, pehchaan kabhi na bhoolo!
Sabke nazron mein Paaakistaaan - Kabhi na bhoolo!!
Pakistan Hain tumhara
Pakistan Hain Hamara!

Apna ghar, apne sarzameen!
Sub kuch hai, bas yahin
Itna to hai, humko yakeen!!

Hai Jazba Junoon to himat na haar,
Justujo jo kare wo chuhai aasmaan,
Mehnat Apnee Hogee, pehchaan kabhi na bhoolo!
Sabke nazron mein Paaakistaaan - Kabhi na bhoolo!!
Pakistan Hain tumhara
Pakistan Hain Hamara!

Barna hai, aage har kadam
Jab Tak hai dum mein dum
Hogee Kabhi Himat Na Kam!!

Hai Jazba Junoon to himat na haar,
Justujo jo kare wo chuhai aasmaan,
Mehnat Apnee Hogee, pehchaan kabhi na bhoolo!
Sabke nazron mein Paaakistaaan - Kabhi na bhoolo!!
Pakistan Hain tumhara
Pakistan Hain Hamara!

All you pakis who are disheartened download the track here...

So fuk all yaaall that wanna piss me off, cos i dont really care... im still proud to be a paki and will continue to support my pakistani team even thru shit!! Who cares??? WE WILL BE BACK!!!

PAKISTAN ZINDABAD!!

Faddy reading ur rantings, typical Paki - style ( as you choose to address yourself) reminds me of something ...

Ever watched the movie Sadak.. Sanjay Dutt getting beaten up and then he smacks himself many a times... I see ur situatiuon very similar to that :)..

What happened in the past, is the past... No one can change it. No one even remembers the past... sans some folks like ya :) I am cherishing this victory, cos it will (hopefully) put ur mind at rest that India is not playing Pak anywhere else, not cos of losing but cos it just doesnt need to Play Pak :)... Secondly I am also happy that uncouth person, whom u guys really praise nonchalantly, Shoaib Akhtar has been given a lesson in humility. Wasim did the same thing 4 years back and India thrashed them .... Hope the next time India-Pak meet ( which I am pretty certain will be again in the next world Cup), Shoiab would have matured...

Till such time... best of luck in ur support for your fav team :)
