The SA pitches do definitely favor the side batting first because of the weather. England have a legitimate complaint but thats life. And after all they were the recepients of the advantage the other day against Pakistan

I still think, the results in both matches would have been the same albeit with a smaller margin of victory

all i can say is ure sad!! Its people like u who that have ruined a quality sport within the sub continent, where India hasnt been able to play Pakistan in a game of cricket because some racist minister cant stand the sight of India getting hammered by Pakistan

Then u get the racist bigots in india stopping their cricket team from playing pakistan in any international venue, just shows why there is so much tension when the two teams play!!

As much as I hate to be a part of this stupid argument, there really is no need for name calling, I cannot help myself but wonder, what exactly do you mean by 'racist'? As far as I know we are all, Indians & Pakistanis, of the same race and of the same origins, so where does the question of racism come up.

Whether I agree with the Indian boycott of sports links with Pakistan or not, the fact is that it is a political issue and has nothing to do with race, color or creed. This is a fact, although some might want to believe otherwise.

As for the article by Mr. Omar Kureishi and his comments regarding the mob attack upon Mohd. Kaif's house, it is quite clear that it is he, who has a communal agenda. The actual fact is that Mohd. Kaif was not the only one targeted, even Saurav Ganguly and a couple of other Indian members too were targeted by some stupid and unruly mobs. Mr. Kureishi keeps harping on about how much he is worried about the muslims in India, my advice to him would be to mind his own business, because Indians and that includes people of all religions, are not his business. Yes, I agree that there are some people in India who are religious bigots, Bal Thakrey and Narendra Modi being the worst examples of them, but the fact is that the majority of Indian muslims lead a normal and equal opportunity life in India, this is a fact borne out by the clear success of so many muslims in almost all spheres of life. Has Mr. Kureishi ever stopped to think even for a moment, of the Hindus in Pakistan, if there are any left that is? Can he honestly say that a Hindu would ever have the opportunity to even dream of being President of the country? Or would a Hindu stand any chance to be selected to represent Pakistan in any sphere of life. Would a Hindu stand any chance to represent Pakistan in any sport, let alone be a part of the cricket team? Let's not even talk about the chances of a Hindu ever being captain of the Pakistani cricket team. The bottom line is we Indians could care less about how Pakistanis treat other Pakistanis, be they Hindu, Muslim or of any other faith, that would be Pakistan's business. But we do care about the likes of Mr. Kureishi misrepresenting the facts about India and Indians and distorting them to suit his own communal agenda.

In closing let me add in very clear words, Yes, an India Pakistan match is a big deal to me as it is to most Indians and the results of a India Pakistan match is of much more importance than any other match, but believe me it has nothing to do with religion. Also whether you choose to believe it or not, there are quite a few 'INDIAN MUSLIM' friends of mine who feel exactly the way I do and most Indians feel this way irrespective of their religious backgrounds. What I fail to understand is, why is it so hard for the likes of Mr. Kureishi to understand this?

A few links for the likes of Mr. Kureishi to peruse.

I am saddened that this thread has finally come down to this. I had been pleasantly surprised so far regarding the civility shown by all, on both sides, until now. But then I guess as the match between Indian & Pakistan got closer it was bound to finally happen. My plea to all Zulmi's, Indian & Pakistani is to remember that we have been on this forum long before the world cup started and we shall be here long after it is over, so let's all please be civil with each other in our disagreements.

Oh I didnt think religion was a big issue here, but Omar Kureishi has that communal agenda... but I would like to add a rejoinder here

I mentioned abt a couple of my friends who would be watching the match... well both of them are MUSLIMS (Indian)... so I dont think religion is an issue here.

Danish Kaneria, taking wickets, would be a source for Abuses, as much as Waqar Younis or Wasim Akram !

i remember watching a docu on channel 4 here in the UK a few years ago when PAKISTAN made their first visit to INDIA after the bombay riots !!!

the one thing that stood out was the interaction between the cricketers of both nations the respect and warmth that they both showed & shared to each other off the field was touching to say the least !!!

but once on the field it was different i suppose it the same between 2 boxers who show so much disrespect anger abuse before a bout but after the match alot of respect and praise is shown to each other !!!

to the many illiterate people in both nations it will not be a game of cricket to those that are educated and well perhaps living abroad and have had experience of other cultures customs and living IT WILL JUST BE A GAME OF CRICKET !!!

Go easy on this rivalry guys. Or atleast create a Ind-Pak Match thread and leave this thread alone. Fo rme the icing on the cake is definitely on March 23. Of course I would like India to win on Saturday but the heaven is not going to fall if they lose. After all its just a cricket match

i found this rather funny for some reason...

http://www.rediff.com/movies/2003/feb/28deewar.htm

Sanjay Dutt concedes he signed Deewar because his friends were involved in the project. "I want to thank Gaurang for letting me do a third film with my God, Amitji."

Dutt clarifies his character is not negative despite its description in the promos as 'a man who did not want to help'. "I play a prisoner of war who orchestrates an escape from Pakistan. It is a fight between India and Pakistan, where India wins. Just like India will win on March 1 [referring to the India vs Pakistan cricket match in the World Cup]. It is a film based on raw emotions and power. That is its USP."
