How much money do you guys pay to see Indian movies in theaters? I prefer to watch movies in theaters but with $10 a pop, I end up watching movies on dvds/ $2 for 4 days. I can't wait to for Universal and Fox to make Indian movies so we can stop this nonsense of getting ripped of by Indian film distributers. And thank God for DD tracks on films, these distributors are not even responisble enough to send DTS discs to theaters.

New releases here are usually about $8 at both Indian theaters near me. Films doing okay business stay for about two weeks, and hits can last several weeks. After the first week of a film's run, the ticket price can go as low as $2. DVD rentals for me are $2 if I return it the next day and $1 for each additional day I keep the disc. VHS rentals are $1 for 1 week.

You never know. With non-Desis becoming increasingly familiar with Hindi films, other studios might start testing the waters themselves with their own DVD releases.

One of the theaters I go to has three screens, only one of which is DTS-equipped. They run the films on the other two screens using the optical track. The theater that opened up here recently has digital sound on all three screens.

Rented the dvd today, and it's pretty bad. Colors are really muted, very bad sharpness on dark scenes, and the sound could've been much better though it's decent. Will try to post some screenshots tomorrow.

As for the film itself, it's just ok. Worth a watch for Vivek, but not much other than that.

"Sorry, Kishi-ji, whatever you say, no more pirates"

Hello! We are talking about East Indians from Guyana, not from India. It would probably go like "Well mi suh sarry, caz wi neva did knu dem a give pirate a wi!"

My local theatre has been around since July 2002, they've played 20 films since then, and have five showings every weekend. It costs $4 to $8, depending on how big or small the film is, and they are closed during the week, and don't have the film release on time.

They started showing Dum on January 31st and the last showings are today. They will play Khushi, Chura Liyaa Hai Tumne, Baaz, Yeh Dil, Satta, and Jaal-The Trap in the next few weeks.
