Come on guys I think you are all being a bit TOO HARSH here....Heres what I think....

When I first saw the film today on DVD - I thought wow this is great..but after closer inspection i have the following points to make:

Why is there a line appearing on the right to middle of the screen - many times throughout the film?

The 5.1 mix seems true BUT if u listen closely to the back speakers, u do here psudeo echoes through the film - However I must stress it could have been alot worse ie EROS and Dhadkhan film - Remember???? - At least the echoes from the back speakers are not as loud as the front speakers.

The film only freezes once [compression probs] not bad - Remember Mohabbatein!!!!

I agree with FADDY point on the cover - It is pathetic!!! :baaa:

The picture transfer could have been better but folks it could have also been alot worse.

I also agree with ALI's point referring to Super Digital - I think DEI are the only company so far who have come close to producing good DVD's!!!

Overall I am happy with this film - At least it worked on my DVD player [Dil Chahta Hai]........and at least it has finally been released - Thank f***!!!

This is still one HOT DVD and it will sell like HOT CAKES no mater what anyone says....This is an old film - and remember it is SEVEN yrs old and alot has changed this film has been made.....I am sure many of us will pick out pointers if we watch this film today in the cinema - ALOT has changed in film-making.....

Finally I would like to congratulate the YRF and team for making such a great movie and finally getting their finger out of their asses and releasing the f..ing DVD!!!

So basically you are saying that we should appreciate the ddlj even if it has bad pic, pseudo sound, bad art work and is the most expensive indian dvd selling right now after Lagaan.
Man, we Indians are pathetic!

i agree abt the prices... cos it is twice of what other dvd's sell for..... the only reason i dont wanna go for the pirate is cos it does not have the extras.... and the main reason why i would be happy to own the original dvd is cos of them.... but yes i do criticise the fact that they have compromised on quality.

Indian DVD Pricing:

Normally, Indian DVD prices are inversly proportional to their quality.

I was talking of "In General All Indian DVD Brands; Pirates excluding".
For example, DEI DVDs are pretty cheap. Eros, VS, YRF are much more expensive.

I agree 110% these are retailers, greedy and mindless!!!charging and overcharging on the hype as they know, once the dvd is out and bashed by reviewrs for the bad quality!!
there might not be a lot of takers!!IMO!!

Well they had low prices and then raised!!YRF are the most BESHARAM dvd makers besides eros and others too, along with superdigital, the way they are coming out the SHITTY VHS quality old movies classic releases and the way they have ruined in 6 years of making of DDLJ!!
seems like the dvd went the KAJOL way!!!HA HA HA!!

from a rental shop just buy disc with extras as indian rental stores they get the usualy extra disc out!and still can rent original feature and keep $5-7 a piece pirated feature, who cares of cd!!not me!!and COVER< CARD BOX is PATHETIC any way!!!thats what is CALLED HISTORY CREATED BY YRF/SUPERDIGITAL in HINDI DVD FILM INDUSTRY IN ^ YRS!!!hoooo!! ???

Okay. You've all convinced me this pirated DDLJ is far, far superior. And I kinda believe you because I have a songs DVD that has clearly lifted Tujhe Dekha To from a pirate, and the picture is, in comparison with the YRF DVD, clearer.

But where in the frigging...would I even find a pirated version of DDLJ? It's the only pirate that's *not* glaring me in the face when I walk into local stores. It is invisible. Even a store owner who blatantly proffers K3G pirates has no DDLJ pirate. Is it a UK thing, then?

I haven't got the DDLJ DVD just yet - I thought I would wait for the preview, but to be honest, I was expecting a crap DVD all along. And the theory that DEi could have done a wicked job on this movie doesn't really ring true for me - sure, the DVD would have been better, but DEi seem to have been rushing their DVDs recently, resulting in poor quality.

As for not being able to find the pirate Simran, isn't that why YRF delayed the release of the DVD - to get rid of the pirates

I guess then we should support companies like Columbia to do more Indian dvds but then again how many Hindi movies are like Lagaan? Mission Kashmir I hope will be the next one by CT...

my friend had gotten me a pirate from boston.... it has prism video written on the back.... there is another one with a whitish cover and yashraj films written on it... maybe the original coming out has gotten rid of the pirated versions... i had paid 13 USD for my pirate....

I disagree 90% of the extras were awful, I couldn't hear the actors/crew menbers speak as the background music was too high, in inapporpiately placed. Also much of the features was too promotional and self congratulatory. Half of the duration was actually film clips, and quality was too bad. It looks as thought they was shot on SVHS rather then DV quality.

Only good extra was the commentary on the deleated scenes, which sheds more light on the plot, characters and memories of the film within 8 mins then the rest of the poor features do in an hour!
