I liked the quality of the new yash raj dvd Saathiya, the video quality is much better than the yash raj dvd's made by super digital. especially the sound is far better than other yash raj dvd's made by super digital. So, I'm glad the yash raj swiched from Super Digital to Prazad digital. Now we just hope the quality of the Prazad dvd improve even more.

Both are bad as each other. Once in a while they'll make a DVD just to show that they can make a decent DVD but majority of the time they are money driven like anything I guess. Put anything on DVD they can lay their hands on and blame the next man for the shabby job they do :nopity:

There were members on zulm who used to think the same way but have changed their opinions now.

Has any of the Prasad authored DVD been as good as SD's Abhinetri?? Has any of Prasad DVD been Progressive?? Many of SD DVDs have turned out progressive.

Super digital has very good potential to be a good authorizing studio and it was evident with their new 'old title' Abinethri and as well with their older titles done for Videosound.

Just like ALI and others put it they have to do the basics right with maintaining OAR and right Audio.

As for the people with progressive sets, some of their older releases are very pleasing to watch with out much dreaded EE or excessive DVNR.

My opinion of SD was low after seeing the PAL converted dreck that was YRF Kabhi Kabhie. Their earlier releases, like Virasat, had good picture quality, but the stretching/cropping thing is a real put off. I suppose it is better than complete pan and scan or having no DVD at all.

SD is not to be blamed for DVDs made from a PAL master, PAL VHS, NTSC VHS or from 20th generation VHS. SD makes a DVD from whatever source provided, for a fee. That's all.

I seem like defending SD, but it's not the case. I am just repeating what SD told me in one of the two conversations I had with them. They honestly told me of quite a few DVDs for which they were given PAL sources. You can't make a NTSC progressive DVD from a PAL source. Also, you can't make a copy (DVD) better than the source.

Imagine what SD could have done if YRF had supplied them with proper prints! Yash Chopra has time to sit for interview featurettes with Karan Johar, but he can't devote any time to ensure that the classic films he produced and directed are presented properly? At least Deewar escaped from the YRF classics ghetto.

Thats cos Trimurti Films of Gulshai Rai are the right holders for Deewar and not YRF ... And we were lucky that DEI was authoring the dvds of Eros (GUlshan Rai and Rajiv Rai are supposedly close buddies of Lulla the "GADHA-KHADDA")

On a sidenote, in my posts from last year, I had eulogized Prasad Digital vs SD and later recanted my statements... Thats cos I was reviewing different things in those days. I am pretty sure if YRF had supplied SD with proper negatives of the films, they would have given us progressive dvd transfers.
