I think India FM, Planet Bollywood and Rediff.com's movie sections are simply great. They are updated everyday and they are also very informative. Planet's music section, for instance, is the best online source for reviews of new music.

Sites I don't recommend would be Yahoo India's movie page, which is updated very rarely and is just a collection of other pages, nothing original. Bringing us to the greatest of all disappointments, at thehindu.com - which I thought would have a great entertainment section. It doesn't, and you have to search time and again to find anything worth something really interesting.

So those are the Indian movie sites I would not recommend. Which are yours?

http://www.screenindia.com/ is good, but only updated every Friday.

http://www.thehotspotonline.com/ is original and unique - worth a check.

..plus the three you mentioned on top are the only ones I visit now - rest are trashy.

Screen is actually a newspaper printed only once a week every friday giving details of film productions going on and Bollywood news...before the website was created I used to buy it every week because of the large size posters of movies provided.

the only bollywood site on the net that i find crap is radiosargam.com the site waits for other bolly sites to be updated before they steal info. indiafm often keeps mentioning how they are the "first" ones with the news, i'm sure its intented to RS.

i found the FAQ's on bollywhat.com quiet funny..

What does it mean when they wag their thumb at someone? :D

actually i find quite a few ones useless, such as:

-ebolly.com/pyara.com/whatever other billion names they have
-smashits.com (they steal news like nuts)
-planetbollywood.com (cuz they also steal news or make up news)

Well I agree with all the above. These days I am on Filmfare.com because of all their amazing news and gossip that is released so quickly! I think that bad press regarding Bollywhat is somewhat uncalled for, but I myself have had not so nice experiences on the site so I cant defend it. To her credit though, the moderator is well written and a reasonably interesting person so I cant fault them. My cousin laughs his head off at it though. To each his own. The worst of the lot has got to be http://www.indiafm.com - they are very very good on graphics and NOTHING ELSE. Their news is old and stale. The specials are anything but.

kabir ji , lagtha hai ki aapka koi bollywhat ke saath lafda si...

posted on bollywhat:

A certain gentleman is very upset that I banned him from the forum. He started posting stuff in the guise of a white redneck who hated Indians under the name 'Jakedaman,' while continuing to post his own (very coherent and appreciated) posts under the same IP, under the name Kabir. When I banned him (after warning him repeatedly), he started slandering the site on zulm.net, and now I guess he's moved on to a site of his own. His favorite epithet is to call me a "gori [white] slut," which I think says more about him than me, seeing as we're not personally acquainted.

I think bollywhat.com is quite nice.

I was a member of RS forums for almost 2 years, but not anymore. I think their site doesn't have enough.

ebolly.com, it's foolishness and a waste of time, they make up dumb stories like Kareena is a Liar. So interesting!

smashits.com is great, but they copy reviews and information.

chalocinema.com is just stupid.

dograk ji, haan lafda to hui thi, magar jo baat abhi discuss ho raha hai unke site pe, uske liye main responsible nahin hoon. I did have some problem but its long in the past and I even wrote a somewhat apologetic letter to the webmaster. But this new controversy has nothing to do with me except that its been written by someone who I had discussed my prior problem with. Hes a deshvasi who takes things to heart and he started a campaign to malign the entire site. Not the best way to approach things I guess, but there you have it. So I guess I started it, and someone else is continuing it now. As of now I have no panga with the site, I'm indifferent to it. hamay kya hua.

I don't understand this at all.

One person has a site which explains to non-Asians about Hindi Films and the culture depicted in them --- and someone has a problem with that? ???

Is racism and non-comprehension preferred ?

I'm very proud of Bollywhat.com, because this website is a VERY huge one, that tells non-Asians about my culture and the movies I watch, and the descriptions are much better that I can ever make. This person is very great, and every Indian should love this site, as many non-Asians visit it and understand our films more, even when they are mostly crap now!

Whatever you guys do, don't return to the official ASOKA homepage. The other day I decided to check the site again just to see if it was still up and running (considering that Lagaan's site still is), but the site has now become a homepage to obnoxious male pornography :bangbang:
