Abhishek Bachchan in a remake of Run

Boney Kapoor is one of the busiest producers in Bollywood. Even as he prepares Khushi, he has already gone on the floors with three new projects, one of them being a remake of the Madhavan blockbuster Run. The Hindi remake will be directed by K Sreeram and will feature Abhishek Bachchan in the lead.

"That boy has got tremendous potential," enthuses Boney. And who will play the important role of the villain, played by Atul Kulkarni in Tamil ? "I have Mahesh Manjrekar in mind for that ," says Boney. After his devious evil act in Kaante, Mahesh is one of the most sought-after actors in the Hindi film industry.

The story is pretty typical but has been presented very well and atul kulkarni has performed very well:

Madhvan comes to Chennai for studies. He meets Meera Jasmine and falls in love with her. Despite her warning him that her brother Atul Kulkarni is a dada, he begins to chase her. Her brother sets his men on Madhvan but he beats them up. And soon Meera too starts loving him. Finally Madhvan elopes with Meera and how he overcomes the brother’s opposition forms the story.

Madhavan comes to Madras for college, and he sees Meera Jasmine and falls in love. He pursues her, but she avoids him. It is later revealed that Meera Jasmine's elder brother Atul Kulkarni has his men beat up whoever tries to romance her. Madhavan doesn't care, and in his first confrontation with Kulkarni's men, he beats them up quite badly. This makes Kulkarni angry. Feel free to correct me if I've gotten anything wrong here.

The story is nothing special, but the action sequences and the chemistry of the two leads make the film fun to watch. The songs are pretty good too, though the song "Kadhal Pisasu" proves that the only thing worse than Udit Narayan singing in Hindi is Udit Narayan singing in Tamil. Hopefully Vidyasagar will do the music for the Hindi version as well.

I know I said in the Dum thread that I hoped Vivek Oberoi wouldn't do the remake of Run. But I didn't mean for Abhishek to get the part!
:baaa: :nervous:

Oops, filmibuff must have posted it while I was typing it out!

Vivek's comedy track is the funniest I have seen. It is unrelated to the main story, but it is hilarious.

this is pretty old news, i dont see why they couldn't repeat Madhavan for the hindi version aswell. like you guys have already mentioned the story of Run was nothing great. but the performances & music was the main factor that made the movie work. the comedy track was hilarious. someone like paresh rawal or jonny lever would do jusctice to it. mahesh manjerekar would also be a good choice for the negative role.

as for Abhishek doing the lead role? lets just say he has another flop to his credit already.

I saw Run last night, and overall, I thought it was an ok movie - maybe because it was hyped up too much. I found some parts of it boring, was expecting a lot more action in the movie and got irritated by the comedy track.

As for ABjr in this role, I reckon he can carry it off.........but I can see the Hindi version being very boring if things go wrong. Just imagine Johny Lever in the comedy track..... :nervous:

Who the hell really cares about this film? What a storyline - I don't see why it even needs to be copied. There's quite a few Mithun starrers with that story...we should start having re-makes of them :D As for Abhishek getting Madhavan's role, what the heck...they both look like imported construction workers anyway!

Abhishek needs to choose some good movies, or choose Pizza Hut! His movie decisions haven't been looking so good. Om Jai Jagadish? Need I say anything else?

I find, plot /story of run, just run of the mill, nothing fresh! but it is may be same way, made with different style advantage, of devdas over devdas!

I hope things work out for AB Junior. He's actually a good actor...just needs the right role to work for him. I thought he was actually quite good in both 'Shararat' and 'Om Jai Jagadish'. Maybe this is the type of film to catapult him to that next level. Let's hope so. Although, it would be nice to have Maddy achieve some success up North as well. I want to see him in more Hindi movies.
