For all Bay Area residents, I bought it this afternoon at Bombay Music House at 1038 University Ave. in Berkeley, for the groan-inducing $24.99.

First thoughts: packaging, while fashionable/attractive, is terrible. It has no case: it's a cardboard fold out container that I'll probably need a rubber band to hold closed from now on.

Got my free CD as promised. Yash Raj is such a weirdo - what is this pseudo-deep babble on the first track?

Okay, I'm off to watch - more later!

Extras on separate disc are extensive. Seven scenes that didn't make it into final version of movie - unlike w/KKHH, some of the scenes are quite long. Option to listen with or without director's commentary. Very cute scene where Raj, with Simran at his side, tells the women in the kitchen a "story" that is actually the tale of how he met Simran...

Menus have great cartoon animation, very cool animated transitions - either a pigeon bursts up from the bottom of the screen to fly the next screen at you, or the camera zooms in on the cartoon Simran or Raj, pulling back to show the other half of the pair watching his/her beloved, with menu options in between.

Unlike the miserable Lagaan DVD, YRF have provided both scene and song menus.

The 1995 Filmfare Awards feature is kind of lame. Unlike w/DTPH, it doesn't show who the competitors were, etc..

I don't know about sound quality; one of you will have to judge that. But I have to admit I don't think it is as good as Dil Se, at least not on my DVD player / TV.

On the whole, though, I paid $27 after tax and don't feel cheated - there's too much on the DVD for me to watch tonight! And the pic. quality is, IMO, very satisfactory!

The cover looks okay, not that great. It would have definilty looked much better if the bottom half was the entire cover with a larger size and with a green or yellow background.

Back on line, but only for a second! Yeah, the case is sh*te, I already have a rubber band on it, but boy, the extras are totally amazing.

Sorry to stoop to gossip, but: After watching The Making Of..., I kind of see why Ajay Devgan isn't so keen on Kajol working with SRK anymore. They seem very...very...VERY...close...on the set. Anybody who gets the DVD, watch the part where they're discussing how they kept laughing when they were filming the scene in the bed (the scene that happens the morning after my namesake(!:))), Kaj's character, gets drunk). They show the outtakes, and I was a little taken aback at how they kept collapsing bodily onto each other and rolling around!

(Not that I can blame Kajol!!!)

got the DVD this morning (finally) tell u the truth it is a major let down!! Image is grainy.. Average bit rate is between 3.5 and 4.5 and is very low!! Dark scenes have no life to them!! very poor indeed... at par with major Eros releases!! as for the 5.1 im not sure if its trrure 5.1 looks as though its pseudo 5.1 and panned to all 5 channels!! will have to let u know properly later!! Extras are plentiful... including the DDLJ CD!! which is a good point!! As for the case... it is truthfully awful!! mine is already ripped!! :( awful indeed!! u have to pull and tug at a cardbox... and only opens properly once uve ripped the b*****!! Truthfully is a disappointing disc that required a excellent transfer........... wat a let down!! Another great film has just been pissed all over!! :(
