The film was released in Stereo in Hindi and DTS in Tamil, and the dubbing was only done in Hindi after Jumund Shughand saw the Tamil film while in post-production and with A.R Ratnam produced the dubbed film in Hindi and reshot a couple of scenes.

Ayngaran own all the film rights of Indian/Hindustani as it an A.R. Ratnam production (a close friend of Ayngaran International's owner). All of his productions in Hindi, Tamil and Telegu are under the control of Ayngaran who hold the negatives in London. The Hindi versions are normally leased to companies intrested in the film for a period of time. For example Video-Sound have a five year DVD lease on Nayak (An A.M Ratnam production), when it runs out Ayngaran can re-sell the DVD lease to another company.

Ayngaran do have some hold over many Hindi films like all of the AVM Hindi productions and are looking for buyers as they feel the Hindi film market is not as prominent as the Tamil film market.

I have tried to get them to buy many Hindi films like Kaante and Agni Varsha, which they can easily afford as every single Tamil film they have released this year have been hits on cinema and on DVD. While they are intrested in Hindi films they fear that the amount of flops Hindi cinema is releasing and EROS monopolisation can have a major effect on the business.

They also feel Hindi films are becoming poorer in content and in thier technical aspects. Ayngaran are instead concentrating on the much better Malayalam films which they have started to purchase for just cinema rights. If it works out well then they might be bring out Malayalam DVD's...lets hope it works out...

I would like to forward same question? in same contest, to SD, what they were doing, before ABHINETRI, churning, shit after shit? why??? :baaa: ??? :bangbang:

They are re-releasing this title as the last version they released in 2001 was transffered in letterbox 1.85:1.

They want to ensure that all of thier widescreen titles are done in thier anamorphic OAR.

Sunny but again my emphasis was , if they had the film rights (negative rights), why couldnt they release their titles (non-anamorphic also) in progressive format previously ?

Thats the question which i am concerned abt.. Maybe if Ayngaran follows suit (with a better dvd authoring company).. some other Hindi film companies may follow suit !

What's holding them back from releasing AVM gems?? AVM has given so many excellent and super hit films.

Rana

P.S.
Sarvana films RAJKUMAR (Shammi Kapoor, Sadhna), somehow, shows up under AVM banner now. I would like an Abhinetri type transfer, if not better, of that film.

Were there any official releases of Hindustani on DVD? I know of one or two pirate versions.

In any case, a progressive/OAR/original language version of Indian from Ayngaran is sure to rock the casbah. :bash:

I thought it was MDE, long time ago!!Sound sucked too!!When dvds (hindi) started within a year or so? I have seen it on dvd, they also released Rangeela, that I bought and returned! later picked by DEI..

I think? Hindi/Tamil version, possibly have a bit different filming and actors? then no colaboration, I want them to stay pure of each other...
