Just saw this film with DTS surround at my multiplex and I was really impressed. This has got to be one of the best bond films for a while! And this time Bond really goes through some troubled times. Some of the special effects are almost as bad as ones seen in Indian films, but don't let that trouble you as the FX are there not to impress but to entertain, and it does so quite well.

The film has many wonderful scenes such as;
- The car chase in Iceland
- Halle Berry rising from the shores in her opening scene
- Set designs of the space centre build of ice, the weapon used by the villain is quite cool.
- The fencing seqeunce with Bond and the Villain.
- Also a nice little scene with Bond and Moneypenny in the end of the film was one that got a massive response and a round of applause from the audience.

A special mention must go to the opening credits which are one of the best I have ever seen on cinema, since Hitchcock's Vertigo!! It actually made the audience shocked in the cinema showing I went to as they was expecting a typical bond credit seqeunce with figures of thin woman dancing around a bond figure!! This is not what you get here and I won't ruin the little surprise. This film is one of the darkest films in the 007 Series, almost similar to License to kill, in terms of its violent mood and tone.

Direction and screenplay is good, although the film is a tad long in places and could have done with some editing. The new bond gadget, an "invisable car" was not as plausible as the past gadgets. However the way the car was used to kill the henchmen was quite clever.

Overall: Recommend to anyone who likes a good action film. If your looking for sex, guns, cars, explosions and a man in a suit..you won't be disspointed.

If you watch movies chiefly for stunts and special effects, DAD is for you. It's got guns, gadgets and action galore. Along with exotic locales in Iceland and Spain, and handsome production design, especially the fanciful ice hotel. It's got great DTS sound to keep you awake when the plot stalls between blurts of explosions.

Just don't expect an comprehensible or engaging plot, Die is about violent action at the expense of human interaction!!

Hally Berry's entrance is similar to Ursula Andress' surf entrance in Dr. No.

out!!!!!!

And I guess Punjabimunda has used hyperboles while describing his exepreince abt the film. I will be pretty blunt abt it... (and it should indicate the level of disappointment I have...a Die Hard James Bond Fan )

This film (as Sunny has mentioned in the title) is no way a good film coming after GoldFinger... Goldfinger was pure entertainment...and had loads of memorable phrases (.."My name is pussy galore"..itself stands the tests of time and will so always)..
DAD is a rehashed version of some FX sequences so commonly found in Hollywood films these days. The only Bond film which relied on FX ( and that too a generation ago) was Moonraker (which actually was pretty convincing)... and was very interesting indeed.
Watching this film made me realise is BOND now really archaic ? Or are the scriptwriters missing ? Dick Maibum, Tom Manc.... where are they gone ?... Where has John Glenn, Lewis Gilbert gone ?... They were the ones who gave us the real Bond films... neways too much nostalgis lets talk abt this film :-

The opening sequence is similar to any other Bond films..but with a caveat....(I wont reveal what happens in the sequence)..it was kinda startling anyways....
"Goldfinger..he's the man the man with the midas Touch"..Oh that song reveberates in my ears even till today... will "Die another day" continue to do so ..probably not. It is too much Techno..no melody in the song....

As for Halle Berry....maybe she was trying to ape Michelle Yeoh ( who was infact the best Bond Girl and not a Bimbo in anyway) :D Madonna looks cute in the cameo appearance she makes.
One word of caution....
There is a suggestive sex scene in the film between Brosnan and Berry.... and the Sexual Innuendos....
(
Berry :- I am from the science fiction mag S.W.I.F.T
Miranda :- Oh so you must be explaining the Big Bang Theory to Mr. Bond
)

may put off a few viewers... Well at least they give Austin Powers enuff dialogues for his next film !

My verdict....
*1/2 out of 5. which is a major disappointment !

So did the film get a simultaneous release in the US and UK? It comes out in the US today as well. Is it being released anywhere else today?

(Gosh the Queen was present there and she was witness to a *squirm* love making scene :D)
