Just to let you guys know that indiahits.com has a preview of the SAATHIYA sountrack. The music is dubbed in Hindi from the original ALAI PAYUTHEY, but A.R. Rahman has put in more of an effort. There are some new songs and some have been omitted from this version. Overall, I prefer the original ("Pachai Nirame" was so much better than the version sung here by Sonu Nigam). What do you all think?

I realize that I spelled SAATHIYA wrong in the title. Why don't I read over before I post...?

He shoots! He SCORES! And scores big.

I've always luved the Alai Payuthey soundtrack, and it may be a bit awkward listening to Rahman's redubs in Hindi.... though I understand Hindi and got no clue about what they're sayin' in Tamil.... :O

But this soundtrack is AWESOME. Wanna know what's the best? It is Rahman's new track "Naina Milaike".... very classical, very nostalgic, very North Indian, very sweet and very melodious. Know my parents r gonna die over this track cuz of the B&W movie-ish sounds. I already have. Sum may argue with me, but Rahman's "Naina Milaike" puts all of the tracks in the over-praised Devdas TO SHAME. Touché!!! Rani's cute, but too bad it wasn't Aish who's gonna croon "Mohse Naina Milaike..." on screen.

In my opinion, I like Sonu's version better. I only came to this conclusion after listening to it repeatedly. It is more zesty, while Hariharan was more of a mellow style.

The hindi version of snedhane, "chupke se" is just about a standard remake, good track, but I like the original.

"o humdum" is rather cheesy. but the 'ohhhh suniyo re' refrain is very nice, and is better in "Mangalyam" which is a very goos track, but short.

all the other songs are no great shakes

The music of "Saathiya" has been released and it has been creating waves all over. The music is already a chartbuster and the promos of the movie are as fresh and interesting as ever. Those who have seen the original to "Saathiya", the tamil movie "Alai Payuthe", already know that the female character of the movie is as well defined as the male character. Going by the reports, it suggests that this could very well be one of Rani Mukherjee´s career defining movies. Lets await the release of the movie to really answer that.

Recently Rani was roped in to do Shahrukh´s next home production to be directed by Aziz Mirza. She is slated to play a "Miss World " in the movie.

As if these these movies would not suffice, her next release after "Saathiya" is expected to be Sudhir Mishra´s "Waapsi", which could get her some critical acclaim. Though the movie might be a Anil Kapoor story, as per Mishra Rani Mukherjee along with Manisha Koirala are supposed to have very strong roles.

Here is wishing her luck.

*** will RANI/VICKI pair will CLICK...I am SKEPTICAL!!

If you think this hindi version is any good, I STRONGLY suggest you check out the original tamil soundtrack. I don't speak a word of it, but it's definitely much better.

And anyone else notice how they literally ripped the way the title song is shot, right out of Alai Payuthey.
what a shame... but oh wait, it is YASH RAJ FILMS.

even the promotional material is ripped from K3G.

Yeah, but if they had shot the title track another way, I'd probably have been disappointed. Even though it's a remake doesn't mean it's ripping it off. I'm sure the Hindi version will have its own charms, although I seriously doubt it can top Mani Ratnam's.

BTW, I agree about the music. "Pachai Nirame" is infinitely better by Harihan, I still feel Sonu Nigam cannot do justice to it.

I would understand following the same concept of the song, but sheesh... they ripped the same dance and camera moves. Even with teh digital color correction they've done, they haven't matched the natural beauty captured by Ratnam.
