This DVD is definately not *the Best* Hollywood DVD ever produced... A low bit-rate (I dont think the sueprbit version will be any better.. Its just the film source that has been used..and I think for the superbit version it will be the same source that will be used)..3-5.5 Mbps

BTW.. This is a RCE disc..so all your guys having a region free dvd player... dont forget to change it to a R1 dvd player while you watch this dvd :)

Notice the motion behind Spiderman...(the man).. His face is clearly in motion..Unlike the SHIT dvds from EROS..where you get COMBING (in a force-weaved mode) or DOUBLE IMAGES (in an auto-select mode).. This dvd, due to its progressve encoding, does not show that....

The only difference you can see in a superbit version may be the reduction in the BLURRING (as more bits will be used for encoding these motion vectors)...

Cheerz

*ps :- All screenshots were taken in a FORCE-WEAVED mode...
DVD obtained for FREE from EBgames.com (exchanged 2 old DVDs for this DVD ... :D)

Sknath,
you are right about the PQ.

from AVSForum
Quote:
Spiderman does not stand up to the quality of these titles(Scooby Doo, True Romance, ET. No EE, very clean transfers). It has a lot of EE. Its harsh looking. It has that video look to it. Im sure it will look fine on smaller direct view sets but this is definitely not reference quality on the big screen. Colors seam over saturated and have an orange cast to them.
Its not terrible but for me its one disc I wont be showing off to anyone other than for the kids to enjoy.

That's way I am in no rush to pick this up from EBGames (One copy is also waiting for me).

Ha Ha Ha... So you did take advatage of the EBgames gimmick... :D What dvds did you exchange it for ? ( I exchanged it for the Old version of Basic Instinct and the non-anamorphic version of Home Alone.. a DVD that I never watched...and I obtained that DVD also free ( the buy 3 get 1 dvd free gimmick from FOX) )

And yeah I saw the DivX rip of this film also.. its a Pity I cant post screencaps of the DivX rip.. But I have this lurking suscpicion that the DivX rip was much better than thie DVD print

As for owning this DVD..well considering that the only other alternative I had was to BUY the DEVDAS dvd ..I Think I am quite happy with this DVD :)

Even with the low bitrate sknath mentioned, it looks miles above most Indian dvds. Can you imagine if all Indian dvds were actually encoded like proper Hollywood releases... damn.. one can dream, eh? :bangbang:

BTW I exchanged 2 DVDS (Free Jack & Passenger 57) for Start Wars :AOTC pre-order at EB yesterday. It's pretty good deal considering both combined I had paid like $13 - $14 only.

sknath,
It seems there is a lot of confusion on different stores. Some of the people have posted on DVDtALK.com that they were not able to get the deal and that the person at the store said that the deal is for 3-for-1 only. However tell the guy to check EBLINE dated oct 10-16 on their computer and they will know the truth. ebline is their internal communication newsline.

I just got back from Blockbuster Video and bought Spiderman dvd from there for $13.99 after tax ($12.99+$1.00 tax). They now have started selling new dvds and they will beat any advertised price by 10%. I had with me K-Mart's ad showing $14.87. Poor girl at BBV got so confused when I told her to beat this price by 10%, she ended up selling it to me for $12.99+tax. You can not go wrong at this price.

Yess !! I was right.. The colors look more vivid (not to be confused with the colors in a vivid-mode setup of PowerDVD) than the ones shown from the DVD.. especially Spidey's dress.. Notice the Bright red used in the DivX and the rather Dull one used for the DVD.. (again thats a subtle difference that wont be noticed by a layman)
