Ok Rana,
Last night I have done some testing with the Hit songs on dvd Vol- 2.( Videosound dvd-Authorized by Super Digital) Hold your breath gentlemen. All of the songs are in progressive mode. I can't believe my eyes.
List of movies from the above DVD:

1) Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya
2) Aur Pyar Ho Gaya
3) Ishq
4) Deewana Mastana
5) Koyla
6) Yes Boss
7) Judaai
8) Khamoshi
9) Virasat

I have to add the bad news also as all of the songs on the "Hit songs on dvd vol-3" also authorized by SuperDgital for videosound are in video mode. I have not done the through checking with this disk. But most likely they used interlaced technique with this entire disk. The pity is even the rest of the songs from ishq movie also in video mode.
1) Pyar To Hona Hi Tha
2) Anjaam
3) Ishq
4) Judwaa
5) Gharwali baharwali
6) Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya
7) Raja Babu
8) Koyla
9) Laadla
10) Dulhe Raja

Additional observations:
Vol 1,2,3 all are Single Layer.

Vol 1 Audio is 2 Ch 192 kbps.

Vol 2 Audio is 2 Ch 192 kbps. (perhaps. Forgot to jog down the #s)

Vol 3 Audio is 3/2.1 @ 384 kbps even for those DVDs like Koyla that were @ 448kbps. Are these true surround or the same audio in all 5 channels, I can’t say.

More prog./ interlaced items obtained from Vol 6, and Vol 7 (Vol 4, Vol 5 were not in the VS-6 Pack):

Vol 6:

(Not Super Digital)
Single Layer; Audio at 192 kbps.
All songs except BIWI # 1 and another movie (ARZOO ??)starring Akshay (song: Tu Soni Kuri) are progressive. These are:
HDDCS
SOORYAVANSHAM
JAANAM SAMJHA KARO
ANARI # 1
ZAKHM ??
KAARTOOS??
---?? (Song: Gali Mein Aaj Chaand Nikla)

Vol 7:

(Not Super Digital)
Dual Layer. Audio @ 448 kbps. Is it true 5.1 or same audio in all channels, I can’t say.

All songs are progressive (except BICHHOO which is prog but picture shakes like crazy in freeze frames).

FIZA
TERA JAADOO CHAL GAYA
BICHHOO
JORU KA GHULAAM
THAKSHAK
BAADAL
HERA PHERI
?? (Starring actress I can’t recognize)

BMCM that I have is dual layer, done by Media Dim. (if I remember correctly) and is progressive. PQ is excellent. Did never check if it has subtitles. Most likely, it has subtitles. Audio lacks something; is not as dynamic as on CD. As mentioned elsewhere, the picture is stretched vertically (on purpose) as is typical of many VS DVDs. I will check it tonite.

Rana

Checked and found as I said.
Add:
Has Subtitles.
Audio @ 448 kbps. Is it true DD5.1 or just same in all 6 channels I can't say.

BTW, the disc has become very moody. Trying 10 times, it does get recognized by the DVD player only once.

Rana

TAAL:
My copy of EROS’s Taal is the first or may be second anamorphic release of Taal.

It is progressive and anamorphic. Audio is DD5.1. Has subtitles and extra song Kya Dekh Rahe Ho Tum. Also has special interviews Director and actors. Also promos.

I/we did complete comparative ratings of some 23-24 familiar DVDs, separately for 32 inch interlaced TV and for 18 inch PC monitor using Power DVD.

You may or may not agree with the results, depending on what you value more and also on what picture settings are used. I myself was surprised to see a dull picture when playing JUDWAA on PC. Finally, we found that it lacked color. By adjusting color/ color balance settings, the picture became as good as other similar DVDs.

For Progressive set up:
Some DVDs like Mera Gaaon Mera Desh and Dhadkan, we were unable to correct colors satisfactorily and hence they ended up at the bottom of the pile among progressive DVDs. Still, they ranked, in our opinion, better than interlaced DVDs (when using progressive system).

It is interesting and debatable to see Shemaroo SANGAM move from top of the pile on interlaced TV to bottom of the pile on Progressive system.

Also, it is to note that many DVDs identified as ‘I-3’ and ‘I-4’ may make it to the top DVDs for progressive system if a de-interlacer is able to weave the frames together by pixel to pixel comparison.

Ganti, It will be great if you could give PQ order (whatever of these DVDs you have) based on your Pixel to Pixel compared Faroudja interleaver on progressive display. I am hoping, this way, some I-3, I-4 identified DVDs will move a few notches up and may join the progressive DVD league.

Rana,
I will try to spend some time this weekend and provide PQ order. But the problem is I don't have a single EVP Hindi dvd. As I did not find a rental shop, which carry original movies, it is more difficult for me to watch some movies that I don't want to buy.

As it seems Fiza songs on the 6-pack are in progressive mode, but not as good as DEI Fiza as it is not in its OAR and has more EE applied to it and the colors are not as good.

I have to think back about the progressive stuff a bit after knowing that most of the songs on the "Hitsongs on Dvd vol 6 and 7" are in progressive mode. Even with good colors and average sharpness, they does not help the disks because of excessive EE, which gives washed out look on big screen.

Probably this is another classic example of how low one can go even after progressive transfer. Both disks almost go to the end of the list along with Sholey.

I remember Refugee dvd being progressive (Rana or Arsh can you plese confirm?) with lot of EE which forces it in to the worst looking progressive list.

That's why I am speculating that good I-3 identified DVDs when interleaved succesfully by Faroudje will jump a few notches and look better than the bad progressive DVDs on progressive displays.

Last Disc in VS-6 Pack.
Bye Bye 2001:

Has 45 Songs.
Dual Layer.
448 kbps audio.

All interlaced.
Deewanapan,Tum Bin, Rehna Hai TDM,Kyon Ki MJNB,Gadar,Mujhe Kuchh KH,LKLKBK,Nayak.

1) Love Ke Liye KBK DVD that I have is progressive, where as its songs interlaced in this pack. I wonder if other movie DVDs could be progressive too, even though their songs are interlaced here.

2) All are pseudo-progressive (except Nayak) as every 5th frame is a repeated frame.

3) Nayak songs are fully interlaced.

Just a small note:
Out of many old SD-VS DVDs that we discovered to be progressive, I want to add that the Following similar kind of DVDs were always interlaced (no point hunting for these Super Digital versions if you are hunting for progressive version):

Biwi #1
Takshak
Anjaam
MYKSH

Yes I stand corrected about MYKSH.
Also, I am not 100 % sure about the name Takshak. From the scribbled scratches that I put down on a sheet of paper when I was noting down the names, I assume I wrote Takshak.

Do you have the list of YRF progressive DVDs? So far I think we found that DTPH (New), KKHTH and Refugee(?) are the only progressive out of the lot. Can you please confirm?
