Aamir Khan´s debut home production is far from gone despite losing the Oscar this past March. The film´s awards - and rewards - just continue. After recieving a best choreography nomination at a prestigous award ceremony.

Now, Aamir Khan´s Lagaan will be released in China. "We are getting ready to release Lagaan in China and are excited about it," an official from Columbia Tristar Film Distributors International (CTFDI) said.

CTFDI, a Sony pictures entertainment company, and China film group will jointly release Lagaan in the country with Chinese subtitles on revenue-sharing basis, he said.

"A gala premiere is being planned in three cities including Beijing and Shanghai and we will invite Aamir Khan, Gracy Singh and director Ashutosh Gowariker to attend them," the official said.

"Lagaan will be the first Indian film that will be released as a revenue-sharing title national-wide in China, he said, while stressing the difficulty in getting the break into the Chinese foreign movie market."

Has anyone heard any sort of news on Aamir Khan's upcoming projects? For a while, there was news about him remaking the Malayalam movie "Vasanthum, Lakshmiyum, Pinne Nyaanum" (I think that's the title) where he was to play a blind singer. But just recently I saw some headline on him taking on a role for some movie called The Rising, which is about India's First War of Independence in 1857 in Barrackpore. Then there's other news that he's getting offers for American films. Whatever he decides to do next, I can't wait. I'm sure it'll be great.

Just for info - an Italian dubbed version of Lagaan is doing the rounds in Italy. One of my Italian friends recently saw Lagaan in Pisa playing to a full house. The songs were in the original Hindi with Italian sub-titles.

I don't know if this version will get a DVD release there - the region 2 version Hindi with English (and a variety of other languages - but not italian) subs is available for sale or hire in Italy. Generally the audiences there prefer dubbing to sub-titles!

Well you know that if an Indian film (or any film for that matter) does well in Italy it has got to be a good film!

Italian dubbed? Usually they like to see films in the original language intended. Monsoon Wedding actually won the top award last year at an Italian film festival, I think it was the Venice film festival.

I hope India continues to produce great movies like Lagaan and let go of the pretentious, lovey-dovey crap they usually produce.

Ah yes - my friends Italian friends have watched Monsoon Wedding - this was also dubbed into Itailian ... but it was probably shown in it's original language in the Venice Film Festival. I know that the version of Monsoon Wedding on general video/DVD release in Italy is the dubbed Italian version.

Also East is East is available in Italy with a dubbed soundtrack - but none of my Italian buddies liked that movie! :)

I wonder if Lagaan has been dubbed in to other languages?
