I doubt that this film would ever top Mani Ratnam's original classic Alay Pauthey. No Hindi remake of a Ratnam film has ever been better, also its a shame that the songs are exactly are the same as its Tamil counterpart. I'm sure Rahman could have done a new score suited for a North Indian audience.

Why didn't Ratnam just release his original film with subtitles?? He is doing that with his forthcoming re-release of Roja (International Version).

Still the film trailer of Saathiya looks promising.

The 1988 flick Dayavan was a remake of Ratnam's Velu Nayakan

Well, I finally saw the trailor... it looks exactly the same. I'm still going to watch it though. The repetition of "Sathiya" appears to be sung by Sonu Nigam (in replacement of the "Saki Re" refrains from Pachai Nirame from Alai Payuthey). I can only hope that they have Hariharan sing this main tune of this song. His singing was absolutely marvelous and Sonu Nigam just wouldn't be able to do justice to it.
I also hear there's supposed to be a song sung by Adnan Sami... I certainly hope they don't do that to a really great song (knowing them, he'll replace Shankar Mahadevan for "September Madam")

Saathiya is a high contender to be one of the biggest hit's ever seen for an Indian film oversees (on the scale of Dil Se.. and K3G), and with Yash Raj presenting it you will no doubt be inflicted upon the heavy PR and marketing campaign's which will help to promote this film.

But I'm glad that finally Yash Raj are presenting a decent film after dud's like Mohabbatien, Meri Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai, Mujse Dostgi Karoge and the dreadful K3G.

OK, I think this is right - but not too sure about the Tamil names!!

Mouna Ragam - Kasak (Rishi Kapoor, Neelam, Chunky Pandey)

Vansh (sudesh Berry, Siddarth) was also a remake of a Mani Ratnam film - it was about Anupam Kher, a judge, who had two wives, and two sons, one of who becomes a goonda, and the other is a policeman. I think the Tamil version was Agni something...

based on the 30 sec clip they show of the main song, i don't think it'll be as great as Alai Payuthey, the song didn't even sound right in hindi, maybe cuz i've heard [and grown attached 2] the tamil version...and also the color schemes don't exactly match like they did in Alai Payuthey...mmm...those songs were shot so beautifully....i have never seen n e thing like that in an indian movie...tell me what u guys think...i think the songs'll grow on me soon i mean A.R. Rahman and Gulzar?!?! nothing can beat that team...

check it out.....
