I reason that the critics 'murdered' Fiza with criticsm, was mainly because the director - Khalid Mohammed was previously one of the fiercest film critics in the Industry. He was known for nitpicking at little thing in other people's films, so when he made so many mistakes in his debut, everyone was ready with their ammunition. They wern't gonna let him escape their wrath. Obviously they expected better from him and decided to teach him a lesson. It was't just critics but other directors had to voice their negative opinions of the film and it's flaws. They were so vicious to him that I don't think he has yet recovered!
There are other films that deal with Hindu-Muslim tension like Bombay, Zakhm and Hey Ram. Although Fiza was good, I found these better.
