September 8, 2002. Karan Johar and Kareena Kapoor are the best of friends, especially after Karan gushed over her performance in his film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.
Yet, he has gone ahead and replaced Kareena with Priety Zinta in his next film. Karan felt that she didn't deserve Rs one crore that she was quoting, considering her last few films had failed.
He says, 'Kareena was way too expensive for Dharma Productions and so we parted. Preity has come in her place and I am excited about the casting. Shah Rukh, Saif and Preity will make a great team.'
Must say relationships in the industry are quite fickle. Kareena has refused to come down on her price, despite the fact that Karan is such a close buddy.
