Also note how much praise has been given to BARSAAT KI EK RAAT (which is identified as interlaced here) in the old forum
http://www.zulm.net/forum....umber=1

so BKER is not as good as Dharam Veer
even though BKER dvd by EVP is authored by Sai Digital !
i don't have Dharam Veer to compare it with
but BKER is film mode, right?

EVP's
Barsaat Ki Ek Raat is Video mode.
Dharamveer is Film mode.

Now! I am still waiting ur input on YES BOSS!!

Thnx again.

Yes Boss is similar to Deewana Mastaana. For comparison, I'll say, Deewana Mastaana is slightly better. Both are psudo progressive, i.e. tests indicate interlaced but the repeated frames are exctly the same as orig. frames and hence advanced line doublers should be able to weave the frames back together.

Some more info (surprises infact :oh: ) abt Progressive Mode DVDs....

Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai ( Eros-B4U ) !!!!! :oh:
Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega (Eros-B4U) !!!!! :oh:
Dulhe Raaja (Videosound) !!!!!! :oh: (but this is a single layered disc)
Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (Videosound) !!!!! :oh:
Officer (Samrat/Soven) !!!!! :oh:

They are reported as progressive mode DVds on my DVD player as well as combing artifacts are absent when viewed in a force-weaved mode in PowerDVD !!!

Add
VS Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan

Also:
Perhaps Chaahat by Asian is progressive too. "Asian Mega Hits Vol 2" has songs from 4 films, Prem Aggan, Ishq, Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya and CHAAHAT. Only CHAAHAT songs show up as Progressive.

Rana

Arsh,
I don't have Khamoshi. I haven't seen this film either. How is this film? I guess it is a serious film.

Thanks for the good work guys. How is the PQ in those odd film mode DVD's from EROS,Videosound and YRF?

I just got the Telugh Santosham(EVP) and overall it looks ok for and interlaced DVD but for comparison it does not look as good as Allari Alludu ( EVP).

Nice to see you back Ganti.

Film mode doesn't guarantee good PQ, but chances are that it will be good as it is not done by incompetents.

Rana

P.S.
BTW, Saw a review of PIONEER ELITE DVD player in Widewcreen Review. Later, I will copy type the text which backs my speculation that Frames can be weaved back together for "Repeated Frame but Video Mode DVDs" (I call them Pseudo-progressive). This DVD player has 2 modes for de-interlacing. You can manually select to mode 1, where properly flagged DVDs will play successfully. If mode 1 doesn't work (no green light) due to lack of flags, then you can try mode 2 where pixels are compared to detect and throwaway repeated frames and then to weave the frames back together.

Yes that's the one.
(Widescreen Review Aug 2002; issue 63)
http://www.widescreenreview.com/
Am I right in assuming that it has some kind of indicator light for Film mode DVD with flags and another indicator light for Pseudo-progressive DVD where the flags are missing but really is Film mode.

I do have Prem Kahani. Will try to pass it it on to sk for professional mini review.

Rana

BTW,
I am compiling a list of my Indian DVDs (over 200) in EXCEL sheet with comments. 85% of my DVDs are Film mode. Of the remainder, I am trying to detect (very slow process) which ones are Pseudo-progressive. A data base of 200 plus contributions from sk, Ganti & yourself, we might have a huge list of DVDs where Film mode is identified.
I hope, zulmis find it useful.
