one more bad one from hindustan times.......

Mujhse Dosti Karoge

Cast: Hrithik Roshan, Rani Mukherjee, Kareena Kapoor, Kiran Kumar, Smita Jaykar, Satish Shah, Uday Chopra
Director: Kunal Kohli

A handsome and hunky male, two pretty and perky females and countless lovey-dovey e-mails constitute the crux of the latest mush-and-marshmallow concoction from the Yash Chopra stable. Like it or loathe it, love is like this only when it comes from the high priest of ritzy romance.

Yes, Mujhse Dosti Karoge has all the gloss and glitz that one associates with the Yash Chopra banner, but that cannot hide either the spectacular vacuity of the film's stale plot or the inescapable fact that Kunal Kohli, the writer-director of this soggy piece of candy floss, is in desperate need of a crash course in filmmaking. Were pals Karan Johar and Adi Chopra looking the other way when Kohli was at work?

The actors certainly were: not their fault given Kohli's utterly listless script. It's littered with lines so corny that it hurts. Raj, Pooja and Tina (heard those names before?) are childhood buddies in Shimla. They are separated when Raj's father migrates to London. Raj has a soft corner for Tina and asks her to stay in touch through e-mails. Tina has no patience for such niceties, so Pooja pretends to be Tina and exchanges e-mails with Raj. Love blossoms.

Fifteen years on, Raj (Hrithik Roshan) returns to India and flips for Tina (Kareena Kapoor) and her tittle-tattle, mistaking her to be the e-mail girl of his dream, while Pooja (Rani Mukherjee) stands by and pines in silence for the man she loves. As the story unspools, words like dosti, mohabbat and qurbani are bandied about so liberally that they cease to mean anything by the end of the tear-jerking, heart-rending, mind-numbing rigmarole. Mujhse Dosti Karoge is just a lot of pyaar vyaar and hot air.

Hrithik Roshan looks as prim and proper as Aishwarya Rai would if she were to ramp-walk again, Kareena Kapoor can't make decide whether she wants to ape Shahrukh Khan or look like Britney Spears, and Rani Mukherjee can only make attempts to survey the ruin around her. Her lack of inches comes in the way.

Mujhse Dosti Karoge is so fatuously fluffy that the only moments of genuine joy it offers are during a medley of old Hindi film songs enacted by the film's characters late in the second half. Sadly, it is rather unlikely that your interest in Mujhse Dosti Karoge will last that long.

Hey _rb_, Naven check this out

http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_35260,0008.htm

These are ppl whose reviews actually count. The film may be a "hit" ( if folks want to believe that) outside India, but it will become a dud where it matters most , and that is India itself. I guess then there is some logic in what ppl say. The film being a "hit" in Toronto, or cities in the USA doesnt count much in the overall success of the film.

Ok guys, I just saw the movie, and after three hours all I have to say is.....DAMN, this is coming from someone who, get this, actually saw the movie!!! What a concept right? Someone who saw the movie with an opinion! The movie was great, I like all kinds of movies, I just dont like love stories, but this movie was really good. Everything about the movie was great and I cant even think of one complaint. Everything that Isha said is correct. Everything, from the sets, the acting, the clothes were just amazing. I didnt like Kareena much, still dont, but I have to give credit where credit is due, she did very well, and she actually looked beautiful (especially in the Medley! ). Oh, the Medley, man its so great, all the songs that compose the Medley mean something when it comes to the character singing it, in fact all the songs just fit, nothing seemed out of place. The Medley was really funny, and really cool, watching Hrithik and friends dance the songs were amazing. If you want to see intensity, watch Hrithik, man he can act, watch the scenes with him and Rani in the second half.

If you were thinking of seeing this movie and wasnt sure because of the reviews from critics, just go. Its better than Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, I am not saying all this because I am Hrithik fan, in fact it is true Rani pulled away the winner in terms of acting in the movie, her role was made for her, but the movie is defintely worth it. The movie will be a hit in India, it has no reason not to be. The script seemed unoriginal, but the actors really gave it their all, and it shows.....hope the DVD does justice to the movie. If your saying its just one opinion against all the critics, wait for more people who ACTUALLY saw the movie to give thier opinions and then decide.......having lower expectations actually made this movie even better!

Check out this opening: Opening Results

Hrithik has another hit....

I saw this movie yesterday, and sorry to disagree with naven but the film is very poor!!! Dont get me wrong I love the ususal yashraj films that are well made but this movie shows how a new director can make a mess of a movie. The films best part is when they sing all hindi songs and that is just about it. I would save your money on this and give it a pass!!!!!!! :p

Hmmmmm!!!

YOU'VE GOT MAIL AGAIN! (who wants it??) or YAADEIN PART II??
Or TINA bani POOooo..ja! ja!! and POOO....ja! Ja!! bani TINA!!

Though 'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' lacks the quality to make it a hit, it has its pleasing moments and just might attract the teenybopper brigade.

Kunal, who has been one of Yash Chopra's assistants, has put in a lot of labor on his film. Though, the story line is a cliché, he does manage some unexpected moments in the first half. But after the break, the tempo flags. It is difficult to see how even the teenyboppers of today will buy this tale of platonic love.

Kunal could have done with some more homework on the script. He comes up with some good lines as far as dialogue goes, but coming from the mouth of stars like Hrithik and Rani these don't gel. Cinematographer Gopal Shah and choreographer Ahmed Khan impart a touch of freshness to the film but the music by Rahul Sharma (son of noted santoor player Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma) disappoints.

'Mujhse Dosti Karoge' spells good news for Hrithik fans. The 'one film wonder' can evidently act too. Hrithik puts in a decent show in the emotional scenes but he still looks too energetic and handsome for a suffering hero.

Hey arsh, whatever u say :-
Apun kutte ka woh dum hai, 12 baras nali mein dalkar rakho; nali taedhi ho jayegi..apun vaise ka vaise hi rahega !

So leave all the reviews.. we all know that it is a "bad" (based on critics reviews) film.. so dont discuss abt it anymore.

I am still bemused how come Khalid Mohammed didnt review this movie ? He is a movie critic in the true sense !... Can you find his reviews arsh ?

Hey Arsh, with all the reviews your copying and pasting (Ctrl key must be stuck by now) people might actually think you saw the movie. ???

Shazia Review

Toh Kya Hua Agar it reminds us of previous Yash Raj and Karan Johar Films, Toh Kya Hua Agar the dialogues sound familiar, Toh Kya Hua Agar some scenes have a feeling of nostalgia to them, Toh Kya Hua...

FACT IS THAT MDK IS STILL A VERY GOOD MOVIE AND NO ONE (specially the so called critics) CAN TAKE THAT AWAY FROM THE MOVIE. IT IS INDEED AN ENJOYABLE FLICK WITH SOME ABSOLUTELY MEMORABLE SCENES AND PERFORMANCES. It is well worth of multiple viewings.

Hrithik shines like a star. He essayed his role to perfection. The confused look of something not being right after his meetings with Kareena in Shimla and yet trying to win her over......

hey guys I saw the movie too, and I must agree with Naven - it is a GREAT movie. Ok, the story isn't anything spectacular nor does the movie deviate from any of the standard candyfloss blockbuster, but that doesn't matter. The film offers pure wholesome entertainment with a great cast, good songs, nice scenery (London is my favourite city in the whole world), and decent direction.

Like I said I'm a sucker for these kind of movies, and I put this one above any of the rest in this category this year (although Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai comes close). I'll even go so far to say that this is just half (or a quarter) below the grade of K3G. If you like typical Yashraj films or any of the two babes, you won't mind this movie at all.

And let me just say that I AM a diehard SRK fan, but Hrithik does a very decent job in this film!! I would say that he should do more of these roles if he wants to a popular among the masses - not the damn critics!!

Hi,
I prefer NTJNH by far. MDK is ok in my books, but it's too
derivative and run of the mill IMHO. It's time Hrithik makes
another film of substance and not the xth variation of the
standard love triangle.
I liked the inclusion of the older films songs, though.
What films were the songs in the medley taken from? I
identified:
- Kaho Na Pyaar Hai
- Gaddar
- Shree 420
- Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai (??)

cheers
MH

Hmmm, reviews of a Hritik movie from a Hritik fan site ???
I'm not trying to say the film is bad or anything, cuz I haven't seen it yet, but you can't believe reviews of the movie from one of the star's fan sites.
